August Report From the Chief

Agreement Signed

At the July 24 meeting, the City Council approved an agreement

with the Town of Bladensburg that allows each other ’s police

departments to share resources including personnel. The agreement

is the first of its kind between two municipal police departments in

the County. Once implemented, the agreement allows (subject to

regulations published by both Chief of Police) officers from both

agencies to make arrests and enforce laws under specific circum-

stances while in Bladensburg and our City.   On hand from Bladensburg

during the signing were the Mayor, City Manager and Chief of Police.

Chief Keeney is currently negotiating other agreements with the Chiefs

of Police from Hyattsville, Greenbelt, and Riverdale Park.
