This set commemorates the rise in status of the Sultan, His Majesty, Sultan Waals Abdullah the first. Previously, the Sultan had been addressed as "Your Highness", but with the rise in dignity, the correct form of address became "Your Majesty". In addition, the Sultan was given a new title, Guardian of The Eastern Seas. The stamps were overprinted by letterpress by the Imperial Occussi-Ambeno Government Printing Office (KDPN) using Adana 8-5 press. To view the special First Day Cover, click here.
