This set promotes peaceful "appropriate" technology, non-polluting for the planet, as exemplified by the wind generator on the 30¢ stamp. At the opposite extreme is the nuclear reactor, shown on the 12¢, which has so much radioactive waste and hot water that it is a major hazard. The design is by the Auckland artist George Baxter, and the stamps were printed by letterpress by the Imperial Occussi-Ambeno Government Printing Office (KDPN) on white gloss paper, using a Heidelberg platen press.
