This stamp issue honors T. Michael Bidner (1944 1989), a pioneer in the mailart movement, and an enthusiastic artist who set himself the task of compiling a directory of all artistamps worldwide. Sadly, he died before the task was completed, being struck down by AIDS, but the task was completed by Rosemary Gahlinger-Beaune and Giovanni Bianchini, who released the catalog as an interactive CD.
