This set
honours the 70th anniversary of the Royal Occussi-Ambeno Vintage Car Club,
and depicts a rustic scene of a family outing in an early automobile.
The Royal Occussi-Ambeno Vintage Car Club (originally called the Royal
Occussi-Ambeno Classic Car Club) was founded on 17th June 1930, when a group
of mainly Portuguese émigrés who owned early model cars decided
to form a club and organise regular outings and picnics in the hills and forests.
The Club's continued existence has caused many early cars to be preserved
and kept roadworthy, and today, the Club has over 150 members, all owning
at least one vintage car. A vintage car is defined as a vehicle built between
1919 and 1930, and owners take pride in keeping them as close as possible
to the original condition, without adding such bizarre modernities as air
conditioning. The Club's annual Grand Tour and Picnic Day to celebrate
the 70th birthday took place on 17th June 2000, on which date these stamps
were placed on sale.
The stamps were printed by the Imperial Occussi-Ambeno
Government Printing Office (KDPN), Baleksetung, on white gloss paper.
