SWIFTAIR - Occussi-Ambeno's Airship Express Service.

HISTORY

Swiftair Corporation uses modern, safe, and fast high-tech airships filled with helium, an inert gas that will not ignite. It is 100% safe for airship travel. Swiftair's fleet of five zeppelins operates regularly within Occussi-Ambeno and also runs less frequent international links. Airships are ideally suited to delivering mail, passengers, and supplies to isolated outposts, where the ships can hover to transfer cargo.

Inaugural Flight of the Dirigible Airship, LZ-184 Malatesta, to Sonné

The much-anticipated and fanfared first flight, loaded down with mail and mushrooms, departed at 0715 hours early on a bright spring morning. The date was 19th July, 1990, birthday of our Lord and Master, Sultan Michael, and the voyage to Sonné was intended to be the start of a happy new era of trade with the North Atlantic country. And it would also be able to supply Occussi-Ambeno's colony in that region, West Vinland.

Severe storms buffeted the rugged zeppelin as it crossed over the Riau-Lingga Islands, and many cups and glasses were spilled on board - an almost unheard of event on a zeppelin, which is known for its perfect trim in any weather. The winds had abated by the time

Singapore came into sight on the horizon. Only fourteen hours were spent ashore in the Lion City while one of the engines was given a full valve-grind and re-mounting. Apparently an insect had become mixed in with the high-grade oils used in the engine and this impurity had wrecked the engine.

After re-fueling and testing the repaired engine, the flight resumed, heading north and crossing over Thailand and Burma, or Myanmar as it is now known. The next objective was the Himalayan kingdom of Lunamon, a fellow ICIS country, and this goal was achieved almost on schedule on 22nd July. After a three-hour rest and re-supplying, the ship went aloft and headed west for Bokhara. The oasis folks with their camels were very surprised to see the airship, which landed and distributed badges and stickers. (more)
