From Iceboats to Bridge
This medal depicts the changes made during the last 200 years in the area of transportation between P.E.I. and the mainland. Crossings made during the winter in 1799 were perilously accomplished by iceboat; whereas 1999 crossings are safely completed by bridge. This is illustrated on the new medal by the Confederation Bridge stretching across the Northumberland Strait and towering over the early 18th century iceboats which are being pulled by courageous Islander's.This beautiful medal (available for a limited time and in limited quantities) will be available for sale to the public at the A.P.N.A. Fall Rally October 16, 1999 at The Confederation Center of the Arts in Charlottetown, P.E.I. They are also available through the mail by contacting the P.E.I.N.A.
