There was a time when our grandmothers made the most delicious jams, jellies and preserves right from the farm where they were grown. Everything was picked at it's peak of freshness and before the sun set it was glistening in Mason jars, just waiting for its debut on the dining table when the winds were howling cold and dreary. An assured reminder and certain promise on our taste buds that Summer would return! Today, with the responsibility of a job outside the home we often opt for the convenience of the grocery store brands and sometimes reach for the cheapest. After all, it's only a condiment for toast right? WRONG! Give our family recipes a chance. You'll be serving your family and friends the absolute best there is with pride. Some of these you cannot find in most stores so you will truly shine as the gracious "hostess with the mostest"!
One more
note... to those of the persuasion that jelly is more refined than
preserves. (Most of them live above the Mason Dixon line where the summers
are not warm enough, long enough, to ripen fruits to their fullest flavor.)
You couldn't be more incorrect. The flavor is not just in the juice but in
the whole fruit. Wake up and smell the coffee... Blueberry Preserves Strawberry Preserves Orange Jam Watermelon Rind Preserves Mock Apple Rings
