Woundeep
New Japannesse Sickness Brutality

Hi Akito...what's up bro ? first of all, could you brief the story of Woundeep ? tell me the line-up...

Hello Ferly and thanks for this interview. Woundeep was formed in early this spring. Toshiyasu left Vomit Remnants because the band had almost been idle at that time, then searched for new members. Aside from the drummer Akihiro, all the members have know each other before, so simply got together. Line-up are Toshiyasu-Vocals, Masahiro-Guitars, Akito-Guitars, Masafumi-Bass, Akihiro-Drums,

Why did you choose 'Woundeep' as the band's name ? where did you found the name ?

We wanted our band's name to be simple so that people can search and get our infomation easily. As you might guess, "Woundeep" is a mix of two words, "wound" and "deep". "Woundeep" represents our thought that people are always being wounded society, systems, warfare etc which cause disagreement, vanity, contradiction and conflict etc, among human-beings.

Your demo 2003 is totally fuckin' crushing, short words...you guys are so close with Vomit Remnants, is it because Toshiyasu inside the band or what ? so how the relationship with Keisuke cs ?

Thanx for your compliments. Indeed Toshiyasu is former vocallist of Vomit Remnants, I don't think there are many things musically common between Woundeep and Vomit Remnants. VR plays groovy and mosh-provoking brutal death-metal but our music is faster. more complicated and with full of blast beats. I haven't been in contact with Keisuke for a long time because he is busy and hard-working person. Now VR has full members and we will see them on stage real soon.

Hhhmm, I think you guys are enjoy with those groove and breakdowns parts, especially half of the members are into hardcore stuff right ?

Year, you are right that our bassist Masafumi and guitarist Mahiro once played or is now also playing at metallic hardcore bands and all of us love to listen to groovy death-metal, but we don't intend to have Woundeep music a mimic of NYDM or TXDM. Breakdowns can be a facter of our music but not an essence. Next materials going to be more complicated, chaotic and wired. You"ll be disappointed if you are expecting the second brew of Vomit Remnants for us ha-ha.

Let me guess, you'll signed with Amputated Vein Recs right or you'll grab the US label ?

No, we aren't going to sign with Amuputated Vein Records. Masakatsu of AVR is earnest person and he recommended us to contact with labels from United States. We also want to tour over US or Europe so we need a label which can give us serious support. We are now negotiating with one from US and will be able to announce the signing soon.

'Deceitful Existence' is a perfect termination trax, tell me more about this skullcrushing song ?

Thank you. That song is the secind track I wrote for Woundeep. The song has a little groove/brake down taste which cannot be heard in others. Songs written after the release of the demo are far more brutal and blazing fast. with a lot of striking ideas and filled with numerous blast beats.

How the band composes songs ? do you use some particluar way of writing to compose tracks ?

I write all the songs with my computar then every member adds his own tastes, arrangements at rehearsals. We all enjoy these processes.

Yeah, tell me about Japan Death Metal scene now !

We don't have many bands here but a few bands are always being great and recognized world-wide such as Defiled, Vomit Remnants or Transgressor. We sometimes play with Disconformity and Rest in Gore. Both are somehow in the vein of US styled brutal death-metal. Keisuke Okada of Disconformity contributed as an engineer on our dmo. He has plentiful skill in that field.

Japan is technologic strong discipline and also religious country, is the any things that you hate from your country ?

Your indication about Japanese religion is somehow incorrect. Most of Japanese are without religious faith. They celebrate X's mas although hold funerals with Buddhist style then see the new year in in Japanese traditional way- "Shinto". I think it is rediculous and nonsensial. I don't believe in any paticular religion and either are the rest of members. Nevertheless I love this country with high technological and economic level.

Talk about economic...your country have a weird way for economical policy, some of local stuff are expensive and import stuff are cheap, is that true bro ?

It depends on an excange rate bassically. Japanese yen has been really strong from time to time but now our economy is in a recession because of that. I'm not an economist so I don't want to disgrace myself by talking farther ha-ha.

Tell me about Woundeep equipment uses...

We use Jackson/Ibanez guitars with EMG pick ups,Ibaneze bass, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifire, Crate full tube guitar amp, Peyvey bass amp, Axis pedals, Sabian Symbals etc...

What is the most delicious Japannesse food ? I'm only know Chicken Sukiyaki...

Well, I like Sushi but it's expensive so I usually eat McCdonalds humbergers...

What do you think about Japan's porn movie bro ? where should I found all these beautiful chicks ?

I have no idea but I prefer Japanese porn movies to that of United States because US porn are too much sporty I think ha-ha.

When we can expect the full lenght cd ? and what is your plans after that ?

Hopehully we are going to record our fullength in next spring, then we want to play at festival or tour over US, Europe and the rest of the world.

Ok, last question...Woundeep is definetely Vomit Remnant's nightmare, do you agree with me ? hahahaha....

wmm... I have no idea. We are playing definetely different style from Vomit Remnants so I cannot compare 2 bands. We are friends each other and I hope them the best.
