French Indiannists

Intro: Throughout my travels across Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and Asia during the past 25 years I have discovered and met thousands of people who are called "Indiannists" or "Indian hobbyists." In the coming weeks I will bring what I have learned and experienced with these many thousands of people who wish to imitate the lifestyle of the north American indigenous peoples. Many of these "Indiannists " maintain they were born an Indian in a former lifetime. They can tell you the name of the individual tribe or nation they were a part of in that former world. Some can even tell you who they were by name. At least one hundred of these Indiannist young boys and young men have sworn to me they believe in their heart they were GERONIMO..

Intro: Lors de mes voyages à travers l'Europe, la Scandinavie, la Russie et l'Asie au cours des 25 années passées, j'ai connu des milliers de personnes appelées "Indianistes" ou "Indiens amateurs." Au cours des semaines à venir, je rapporterai ce que j'ai appris avec ces milliers de gens qui cherchent à imiter le style de vie des peuples indigènes d'Amérique du Nord. Beaucoup d'entre'eux soutiennent qu'ils étaient nés Indiens dans leur vie précédente. Ils peuvent vous dire le nom de la tribu à laquelle ils appartenaient et même, certains peuvent vous dire quel était alors leur nom. Au moins une centaines de ces jeunes garçons et hommes Indianistes m'ont juré être profondément convaincus que dans leur existence antérieure, ils étaient GERONIMO.

	There are of course Eurasian "Indiannists" who take their love for native north Americans to another level. They seek to learn more about religion and philosophy and often invite native teachers to Eurasia to teach traditional points of view and present current events on the contemporary situation in North America. Il y a bien sûr des Eurasiens qui poussent leur amour des Amérindiens encore plus loin. Ils cherchent à apprendre leur religion et leur philosophie et invitent souvent des maîtres Indiens en Eurasie pour qu'ils leur enseignent les points de vue traditionnels et leur présentent les aspects de leur situation actuelle en Amérique du Nord.
One such group of people who have been very influential in helping all indigenous peoples through contacts with the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, are based in France.It seems like a logical place for me to begin because I have a small part of my roots in France via the French fur trade to North American Blackfeet. Although, my first encounter with Euro-Indiannists was in England (1990). Now this group could really imitate songs from the Lakota people! There was a dance club of Indiannists making pow wows. *It is ironic that after the first contact of Europeans over 500 years ago, the Europeans are imitating us indigenous peoples.* In 1993, I met a Tibetan monk who I became friends with while travelling to Mongolia via Russia and Kazakhstan. He and I share a special dream since we were both 10 years old: running together through Tibet and the Himalaya mountain valleys to Lhasa. *You know what he told me? Cependant, ma première rencontre avec les Euro- Indiannists eut lieu en Angleterre, en 1990. Le groupe dont je parle savait parfaitement imiter les chants des Lakotas!
