Terrain d'Aventure, Lausanne, Suisse

Over the past 15 years I have been invited as a special guest story teller of Coyote stories and sharing general knowledge of Native North American peoples in Switzerland. Of course, the unique stories of my Blackfeet and Nez Perce / Umatilla peoples have often overlapped, be it with this coyote story or that of other tribes. And it is in the telling of stories we all find a common bond between cultures and humor around the world.

Thanks to Marina Racine for her many invitations to tell story after story and to hear the laughter and sometimes applause of the young people and teachers of Swiss and international kids who are making their homes in Switzerland.

Au cours des 15 dernières années en Suisse, j'ai été souvent invité comme conteur de légendes de Coyote ainsi que pour partager la connaissance générale des peuples natifs d'Amérique du Nord. Bien sûr, les contes propres à mon peuple Blackfeet et Nez Percé / Umatilla, se recoupent souvent avec telle ou telle légende du coyote des autres tribus. Et c'est en racontant ces histoires que nous nous découvrons des liens entre les cultures et l'humour du monde entier.

Merci à Marina Racine pour ses nombreuses invitations à venir conter des histoires qui m'ont permis d'entendre les rires et parfois les applaudissements des jeunes gens et enseignants et des enfants aussi bien suisses qu' internationaux qui ont élu leur domicile en Suisse.

My last visit to Terrain d'Aventures this June 2005 was extra unique. I taught and shared the meaning of the pipe to all there that day. This was a pipe ceremony of Friendship with young and old - A healing of cultures and a blessing for a tipi whose colors I hold in my heart for protection and to give me strength when I most need it.

Ma dernière visite au Terrain d'Aventure ce juin 2005 était très spéciale. J'ai enseigné et partagé la signification de la pipe à tous ceux qui étaient présents ce jour-là. C'était une cérémonie de l'Amitié entre jeunes et vieux - une "guérison" des cultures et une bénédiction pour un tipi dont je porte les couleurs dans mon coeur comme protection et pour me donner la force nécessaire lorsque j'en ai le plus besoin.

RED: Blood equals life and direction of west for white buffalo and Rocky Mountains

YELLOW: For east and knowledge and white tail deer. Runs fast to help us and teach us.

WHITE: For snow and water and the south where the spirits go and fall off the world and go to the stars. Night people and owl people. Sometimes represented by the wolf and the color green.

ORANGE: For the moon and the women who give birth to all. Protective color.

BLUE or BLACK (same): For the North. Represents the bald eagle , northern lights and power to interpret dreams.

COULEURS DU TIPI - REVES BLACKFEET - SIGNIFICATION (pas pour TOUS les Indiens)

ROUGE: Sang, la vie et la direction de l'ouest, le bison blanc et les Montagnes Rocheuses

JAUNE: L'est, la connaissance et le daim à queue blanche qui court vite pour nous aider et nous enseigner.

BLANC: Pour la neige, l'eau et le sud où s'en vont les esprits qui quittent le monde et rejoignent les étoiles. Pour le peuple de la nuit et le peuple des hibous. Quelquefois représenté par le loup et la couleur verte.

ORANGE: Pour la lune et les femmes qui donnent la vie à tous. Couleur de protection.

BLEU ou NOIR (pareil): Pour le nord. Représente l'aigle , les lumières du nord et le pouvoir d'interprêter les rêves.
