This fine antique damaru dates from the late 19th century and originates from Mongolia. The measurments of the wooden drum are 4" in diameter and 3 1/4" in height. It should be noted that the drum can still be used for Buddhist practice even though the leather drum skins are well worn. The strikers are in excellent condition.

The hand embroidered tails measure 18" in length and include a buddhist geometric design done in tan and black silk and backed by yellow silk. There is also a beautiful handmade metal enless knot ornament wrapped around the middleof the drum which is a fine example of Mongolian metal work.

Overall this is a beautiful and rare ritual item and is a chance to own a piece of Buddhist history.
