This is an early 20th century Tibetan tsampa bowl. Given the nature of their exit from Tibet most items have a few dings and scratches which is normal. The beautiful red lacquered bowl is guilded with beautiful floral, vines & geometric patterns.

It is quite rare to find painted tsampa bowls in any condition as the vast majority that come on the market are plain lacquered wood in shades of brown or red. In addition the size of 10" in diameter and 8" in height is also noteworthy.
