Cinderella

"Why I Love Platform Shoes"

*********

Okay MOST of the Cinderella story is absolutely true. But there are a few misplaced factoids.

Women back then danced in slippers, not heels. The slippers were similar to what we think of as ballet slippers, soft leather, totally flat. That's how the women could dance all night long and not suffer from aching feet and bunions like we do now.

And you know there weren't any sidewalks back then right? It was just muddy, dirty pathways. So how was a girl suppose to keep the bottom of her gown from looking like shit? Ah...platforms!

So off the women went tucking their slippered feet into slide-on platforms. The platforms were from 6" to 18" tall. Try to navigate stairs in those!

So of course she loses a platform while running down that unending flight of Supreme Court steps.

But you know the weird part of the story is that prince.

He needs bird to tell him, not once but twice, that the woman he thinks is his beloved dancinggirl is a fraud, a multilator. One chopped off toes, the other her heels.

Well in the end birds pick out the eyeballs of the mutilating stepsisters.

But that dumb-ass prince...hmmm...I wouldn't want him.
