ALS project event
CLASS PROJECT
Stars get a lesson in love at a project ALS fête
"project ALS always throws the snazziest event!" declared Molly Shannon, referring to the show of celebrity support at the annual Manhattan charity
event that helps fund research for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (lou Gehrig disease). The night, which raised more than $1 million, began at a midtown
theater with the premiere of the CBS movie Jenifer, based on the life of Jenifer Estess. (Estess co-founded Project ALS in 1998 after contracting
the disease herself.) Guest then moved to the Roseland ballroom, where Jesse L Martin sang a capella version on "Lean On Me" and Carson Daly took
total request to show off his new NYC tattoo. "This is the greatest city in the world," he explained. "And this is a great night out. It made me want to do my part
to help raise money for ALS." Billy Baldwin also wanted to do his part_as well as land a part. I am envious that I wasn't able to get a role in jenifer, he
said. Not only is he lobbying for a sequel, but he also already knows the title: The Cure
