The
Organization of Black Designers Chicago would like to formally thank
all who sponsored, volunteered and attended the I-Event on June 16th
at The District! Everybody who attended helped to contribute to its
success, especially Dr. Calvin Ashford Jr. OBD awarded the accomplished
Interior Designer (of over 20 years) our Design Pioneer award, the highlight
of the evening. (pictured left) OBD's Interior Designers, or "I-Group",
wanted to make known Dr. Ashford's achievements and the presence of
other African-American designers in the field of Interior Design.
Another
highlight of the evening was the raffle, with prizes such as original
artwork, a spa certificate, and two Chicago Architectural Foundation
river boat tour tickets. All proceeds for the evening, including the
raffle, went to OBD Chicago's mentoring program Project Osmosis and
our College Portfolio Review. Project Osmosis was created to help fill
a void in design/arts instruction in Chicago's public schools, while
the portfolio review for college students helps prepares them for employment
after graduation.
