Situla is one of the main characters from a fantasy story I've been playing around with. She's obviously not a happy and light individual; you probably wouldn't be either if you hung around ghosts all the time. It's her calling, though, and she feels obliged to stick with it. Her name is taken from a star in the constellation Aquarius and means "water jar".

Arrakis is another of the main characters. A thief by trade with the ability to use illusionary magic, she is actually part of a much larger "family", the world's version of the mafia. Although she's quite light-hearted, she also has a great responsibility ahead of her. Arrakis means "dancer" and is a star in the constellation Draco. She has nothing to do with that planet in Dune.

Lesath is the third of the main characters, and has the saddest story of all of them. Found abandoned on a beach as a baby, raised in a convent, constantly ill due to his weak body, and plagued by visions, he's definitely not the most optimistic guy. Lesath is one of the stinger stars in the constellation Scorpio, although his name is most probably corrupted from the Greek for "foggy".

Okda is the last main character. He's probably had the most stable upbringing of the four, brought up as the son of two teachers in a school of forbidden magic. While talented in two types of magic, a rarity, he excels at neither because of his shyness and laziness, not to mention his dependancy on his late parents' reputations to get things done for him. Okda is one of the names of the brightest star in the constellation Picses and means "knot".

Miris is Arrakis' aunt and the head of the "family". She not especially old, but the stress of her job has worn on her quite a bit. She's polite and well-mannered to outsiders, unyielding when it comes to running the family, and a big softie when it comes to her niece.

Well, here's a villain for a change...this is Kaneae, second-in-command of a ruthless seagoing rival family. Quiet and mysterious, she is fiercely devoted to her captain, and uses her abilties as a deadly warrior and spy to his benefit.

Lady Atal of the Stalwart Sky is another in the villain category. One of three advisors to the King, she also serves as his personal oracle. Unfortunately, her abilities are limited, and she is afraid of another person more powerful than her taking her place. Thus, she has begun a mass persecution of others with abilities similar to hers...such as Lesath.

Nuree is a Celestial, or nature guardian, in this particular universe; she represents one of three moons of Jahan, the Alabaster Moon. The big warhammer is a bit deceiving; she does no actual hitting with it, but uses the energy from its impact to protect those in her care. Sitting atop it is her avian symbol, a turtle dove.

Aysu is the second of the moon Celestials; she is the guardian of the smallest of the three moons, the Azure Moon. She uses a fan to defend herself and focus her magic for attacks to defend the innocent in her care. Not pictured is her avian symbol, the red-crowned crane.
