A maiko, or apprentice geisha. She's named Sayuri in honor of 'Memoirs of a Geisha,' one of my favorite books. The pattern on Sayuri's kimono is taken from an obi picture I found. Our base

Hatsumomo, yet another geisha. I do like drawing geisha; the kimono are so much fun to do. And it's no coincidince I've used a Diva base for a doll named after the main villian in 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. Base by Emby Quinn.

Yukiko, a Japanese festival doll. The kanji character on her lantern means 'peace'. Base by Josie.

Kiku, Yukiko's friend. She has managed to win a koi in a festival game. Ah, and if you look closely, she's actually animated... Base by Josie.

Reiko, a doll from Japan's Heian period. The noblewomen of the era dressed in several layers of kimono, which is why she looks so bulky. Reiko is named for the heroine of the Sano Ichiro mysteries by Laura Joh Rowland, even though the 'real' Reiko is not from this time period. Base by Hush.

Sarasa, with a gradiant kimono. Hands down my favorite kimono doll, even if she's not totally accurate. Base by Xandorra.

Chun, another doll based on Chinese circus design. Base by Josie.

A China girl, done for the Halloween contest at Lucky Gin. She was supposed to be a swordswoman ala 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', but I got fed up with trying to make a sword and used a fan instead. Base by Xandorra.

Theodora, made for a base edit contest on Solace's site. Alas, she won nothing, but there was some pretty stiff compition. ^_^ She's in International since her costume is based in the Byzantine Empire. Base by Solace

Qifeng, made for the Extravaganza Contest on Solace's site. She's based on pictures of the famous last Empress of China, but there's some artistic license as well. She didn't win anything, but I don't care...that moon gate behind her kicks major booty. ^_^ Base by Crystal.

Shauna, inspired by a beautiful doll I saw in a Franklin Mint catalog. Yup, she's Irish, the princess of Blarney Castle, according to the catalog.

Elizabeth I of England, one of the most famous figures of all time. This is based off of a painting of her as a princess, entitled 'The Family of Henry VIII' and painted in 1545. She's all of 12 years old, but she already looks quite mature. The original portrait can be viewed by clicking the link on her name.

The princess Andromeda, from Perseus's story, one of the most famous Greek myths of all time. The Andromeda I made looks pretty calm considering she's about to be fed to a sea monster. Base by Stardust.

Lorraine, a doll in traditional Irish dance costume. Done at the request of and named after a friendly member of the PCOS board I frequent. Base by Stardust.

Adelina, a doll dressed in Elizabethian garb. This happens to be one of my favorite periods of history; I did a lot of research to get the costume authentic, although there is still a bit of creative license. As a bonus, I used Xandorra's pattern and crushed velvet tutorials. Base by Amelia.

Morgan Le Fae, the classic 'villianess' from the tales of King Arthur, as interpreted by the Franklin Mint. As a first, her hair is completely pixel shaded; I really like the spirals in the front especially. Base by Doll on the Hill Factory.

Yuliya, a darling little Russian gal that was made for a contest that ended up getting canceled. Well, I thing she's a winner. ^_^ Base by Joyful Girls.

Little Buttercup, the darling of the HMS Pinafore. I hadn't seen this in ages, but I got her song stuck in my head as I worked. Made for a contest at Modest is Hottest. Base by Historical Dolls.

Josie, inspired by an Entertainment Weekly magazine cover featuring the movie Chicago. She's based on Catherine Zeta-Jones' outfit. Base by (coincidentally) Josie. ^_^

Samantha, something of an attempt at a Victorian doll using a Xenis base. Not too bad... Base by Bondchicks.

Emily, a doll modeled on formal wear from the 1910's. She almost looks like she belongs on the Titanic. Base by Josie.

Sally, a Gibson Girl of sorts. She's not a direct copy, but rather inspired by them. Her dress is so simple, but took forever to pull together. Base by Xandorra.

April, a quintessential Southern Belle. Kinda surprised we didn't think of this earlier, seeing as we live in the south. Base by Doll on the Hill Factory.

Theresa, an original doll. While drawing her, she came to resemble a Victorian-era gal, so I put her here. Forgive me if her costume is not entirely true to the period. ^_^ Base by Doll on the Hill Factory.

Constantia is based on a beautiful drawing of an amazing Empire gown I found somewhere. I had to simplify quite a few details, but I'm pleased with how well she turned out. Base by Indexed Colors.
