He threw open the six-foot-tall gate to their secluded backyard, newspaper in hand, returning from a day at the office.

There she was sitting in the brilliant sunshine, pink tube top, her long auburn hair dangling off the chair, legs propped up on the footstool, open to the world…denim miniskirt hugging her thighs, no panties.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Sterilizing.” She answered barely lifting her head from the chaise.

“You are open to the world girl.”

“Yep.”

He started up the steps toward the back door. “You know men…delivery men, mailmen, the Hinckley and Smith guy…come back in here.”

“Yes, I know.”

“How was your day?”

“I’ve been a bad girl.”

“Do I need to know about it?”

“Don’t know.”

“Come on inside.”

“Can’t yet." she paused, then rapidly blurted, "I had my first afternoon “thing”…sorry.” She saw the moonbeam smile fall off his face. “ I wanted to see what it was like to have sex with someone I didn’t even know, let alone didn’t love. I took a shower, but it didn’t seem to be enough. So now I am sterilizing so you will still want me.”

“Girl, come inside.”

“But I enjoyed it.” The girl started to cry.

“Dammit.”

“You still like me?” she held her hand across her face like a visor so she could see his expression.

"Tell me about it."
