Raft

Screams filled the train car. The coyotes stood, guns out.

“Nobody move!” the leader shouted. “This is a robbery!” The passengers started to panic.

“Chop-chop!” the leader shouted. “Hand over everything valuable!” He waved his gun around.

“Do it!” the bandit yelled. The other bandit walked around with a sack. The scared passengers started filling it up with money, wallets, jewelry, and other valuables. The leader grinned.

“Yes!” he said. “Keep it coming!” A woman in the back hid the fat emerald ring on her finger. Her husband eyed her. She shook her head with big eyes. He held her wrist. Unfortunately, the bandits spotted her.

“Oi!” he yelled. “What are you hiding there?” The woman froze.

“N-N-Nothing!” she said. The bandit walked up to her and her husband. He pointed his gun in her face.

“Hand it over,” the bandit said. The woman shook her head.

“No!” she shouted. The coyote gritted his teeth.

“Give it now!” he snapped. He reached for her wrist. The woman screamed.

“Freeze!” a boy’s voice shouted. Everyone looked up. Logan stood in the doorway of the car. He had his gun drawn. The coyotes looked up. The leader gritted his teeth.

“You again?” he asked.

“Give it up, Hector!” the cowboy shouted. “This is the end of the line for you!” The leader rolled his eyes.

“Really, kid?” he asked. “Why don’t you just give up already You can’t beat us.”

“I already called the marshals,” Logan said. “They will be here any minute now.” The bandits laughed.

“How?” the second bandit asked. He held out his arms. “Look around you. We’re underwater! All forms of communication won’t work down here!” Suddenly, there was a crackling noise. Everyone froze.

“What was that?” the leader asked. Logan turned to see Anna Jane walking into the room with her radio in her hands. The leader’s jaw dropped.

“No way! That’s not possible!” he shouted. Anna Jane looked down at her radio.

“Huh?” she asked. “Oh, this? I just turned it on.” Anna Jane turned the knob. The static blared through the air. The coyotes covered their ears.

“Gah!” the leader shouted. Logan rushed forward and grabbed the sack from the other bandit.

“Let go!” the coyote yelled.

“Marshals will be here!” the cowboy yelled. “You are under arrest!”

“Screw you!” the bandit yelled. They struggled over the sack.

“Logan!” Anna Jane yelled. The cowboy and coyote wrestled each other into a seat.

Thud!

Logan’s back hit the wall.

“Ow,” he muttered. The cowboy jumped up and grabbed the bag.

“Let go!” the bandit yelled. After so much back and forth tugging, the bag ripped. The loot flew everywhere.

“No!” the leader screamed. The passengers jumped to gather their belongings. Logan jumped to his feet, panting.

“Are you okay?” Anna Jane asked as she ran towards him. The cowboy rubbed his arm.

“Yeah,” he said. “I’m good.”

Roar!

The pair turned to see George standing in the doorway. In his arm, he carried Vivian and Teddy. The geisha screamed and kicked at the creature.

“Eww! Let me go!” she cried. “Put me down! Put me down!” The hitting made George’s eyes wail up with tears.

Meep! Meep! Meep!” he cried.

“Stop it! You’re hurting him!” Anna Jane cried. She ran to her friend. She had to fight through the crowd now fighting over the spilled loot. Logan looked around.

“Everyone! Calm down!” he yelled. “You’re going to…”

Crack!

Everyone paused. Water started rushing in. No one had time to scream. The waves washed them away.

----------

Several moments later, Anna Jane woke up to the vast blue sky above.

“Huh? I’m still alive?” she asked. The girl sat up and looked around. Anna Jane found herself on the surface in the middle of the ocean.

“How did…?” she asked. It was then the girl noticed herself floating on a giant wooden raft.

“Where did this raft come from?” she asked. It was then she realized that she wasn’t alone. Anna Jane turned her head when she heard groaning. Logan sat up, rubbing his head.

Urgh,” he muttered. “What happened?”

“I don’t know…” Anna Jane said, blinking. George and Vivian also woke up.

“That was not good,” Vivian said.

Meep,” George said. He saw Anna Jane’s face and paused. The creature reached into his belly and pulled out Teddy and her radio. The younger girl’s eyes lit up.

“You saved them! Thank you!” Anna Jane cheered. She crawled over to George and hugged him. The creature blushed.

“That’s great and all,” Vivian aid. But now what?” Everyone looked out at the ocean around them.

“Oh,” she said.
