Run On
-Kohaku-
I:
This has to be a dream. It has to be. Why else would…
A dark-haired woman jumped on my bed.
“Yo!”
she said. I dropped my head back and groaned. This is
not a dream.
II:
Clare. Who the hell was she? She looked like a normal person without her goggles
and black helmet. I had never seen eyes so red before in my life. I had to admit
that she was beautiful. Her pale skin had a strange glow about it.
Even that couldn’t stop the questions that I had about her.
III:
My day went on as usual. School was boring. Cram school was worse. I went home
like I usually do.
“Welcome home,” Clare greeted me outside. I frowned as I walked by.
“Aw, don’t be like that,” Clare said.
“How long do the plan on staying here with us?” I asked. She smiled and
shrugged. I snorted and walked into the house. So annoying.
IV:
Around midnight, I awoke to soft music playing below the floor. I turned over in
my bed and held the pillow over my head. The music still kept playing. I gritted
my teeth and sat up. I leapt out of bed and marched downstairs. When I got to
the living room, a cool breeze hit my face. My eyes opened wide to see a
procession of men in black and white suits. They headed downstairs with large
instruments. I could hear one of them hummin some old hymn that escaped me. What
the hell was this? The closer I looked, the more I noticed something off about
them.
I could see right through them.
V:
Was I seeing things? Were a band of ghosts walking through my house? Why were
they here? Where did they come from? I couldn’t take my eyes off of them.
One man dressed in white stopped and turned to me. He held a large bass guitar
by his side. He stared at me and I stared at him. He put his finger to his dark
lip before rejoining his party. I stood with a blank stare on my face.
