Vocabulary Adventure: Part 5
Gwydion
Iggy looked at the poisoned boy in his brother's arms and said, "JC's longevity may be greatly shortened if we don't find that antidote and fast."
"But where do we start looking for it?" asked Sara, worried.
Before Iggy or anyone else could respond, an unfamiliar voice said, "I believe I can help with that."
"Huh?" said everyone as they turned to see a decrepit woman had spoken to them.
"I am Jeanie," said the matriarch at last, "Welcome to Document. I hear you have a small problem."
The children were shocked; they had never seen Jeanie before. She had only interacted through e-mails. They had never expected her to be such a venerable woman.
"What were you expecting? A horse with wings?" Jeanie joked, noticing their surprise.
The group laughed nervously, but Missy said, "That's preposterous! They don't even exist."
"In your world that is a plausible assumption, but not here," answered the old woman, "Oh, but where are my manners? Here I am talking about Pegasus and Uni when there are far more grave circumstances." That said, the eight of them suddenly found themselves in an underwater house sitting around a table.
As Iggy walked over to a large window, he marvelled at the fish. "Prodigious," he murmured, "but this is highly inconseivable. In my opinion..."
"Oh, don't be so dogmatic," said Jeanie as she offered the group hot chocolate, "Not everything in this world is as logical as your world."
"I guess even Iggy is fallible," muttered Job as he pushed his glasses back onto his nose.
Jeanie sat down adjacent to Marc, who had JC on his lap. Impatient, the older brother said, "Well, can you help us or not?"
"Yes, I can help you, but first you must hear my tale," she answered, "Back in the days of yore, all was peaceful in this land. Every creature lived in harmony with one another. But, a new creature was born, one who thought himself to be paramount. As he grew, so did his power. He became a sordid monster, feared by many. Realizing this, he soon took over this world. I tried to stop him, but even when I was younger my powers were no match for his. When he was through, not an inch of land was left pristine. And this brings me to the crux of my story, you."
to be continued...
A/N: Ooh, so suspenseful. At the end next to my "to be continued", my teacher, Mrs. Clarke, wrote, "AH - I must know!!" lol I thought that was pretty funny. She also asked if I was saving all of my vocab "paragraphs". "This will be a pretty cool book in June :)" Heh, well, I'm not sure about that, but I was saving them (obviously). Anyway, I loved Mrs. Clarke. She was such a great teacher. ^_^
