A/N: This was another one where we had to write so many sentences rather than a paragraph. And as dumb as this chapter is, this is by far the one I am most proud of. Just look at the underlined words and you should understand why. I still have trouble believing I managed to make them all fit, and without filler sentences! o_O
Vocabulary Adventure: Part 6
Gwydion
"Wait a second," said Ty abruptly, "Why -"
"Don't interrupt me," Jeanie said sharply. "Now, if there are no further disruptions, I will continue with my story. This corrupt creature took over this world so we knew we had to do something to stop it."
"You should have tried infanticide when the monster was young," Iggy pointed out.
"Now you'll just have to commit homicide," said Job.
"Well, if he's the ruler of this world, wouldn't it be regicide?" asked Sara.
"Tyrannicide would be a better term for the killing of that tyrant," said Marc.
"I restrict you all from talking until I am finished!" yelled Jeanie, annoyed. The kids weren't happy with the stringent rule, but tried to do as they were told.
"Now, with everyone defeated and helpless, the creature was unrestricted to do what he pleased. He was like a boa constrictor, crushing anyone that opposed him."
"I hope he's a herbivore and doesn't eat the people he crushes," whispered Missy.
"Knowing our luck, he is definately a carnivore," replied Sara.
"It's more likely that he is an omnivore and eats both meat and vegetables," added Iggy.
"And I bet he has a voracious appetite and will eat us all at once!" Job cried out.
"Thank you for that vivid mental picture," said Jeanie sarcastically, trying to get back to the story. "In order to revive the peace in this land, we learned from an ancient prophecy of eight chosen children who were to come and free the power able to defeat the monster."
"But how do you expect eight of us to survive and kill this monster when there are only seven of us to begin with?" asked Job, becoming quite panicked.
Smiling, Jeanie replied, "We have thought of that, and I believe that vivacious boy knows this young girl." She pointed an old, fragile finger at Ty as a small girl entered the room. Surprised to see her, only a fraction of his mind even recognized his sister.
"Karin, I thought you had a fracture," he said at last as the brown-haired girl violently attacked her brother with a flying hug.
"No, Mom said my fever was making me fractious because I snapped at her, not giving me a snapping fracture," she replied with a giggle. "Jeanie came to my room last night and convinced me to help you, since I am the eighth child."
"So, with all eight of us, we should be able to vanquish this creature for good!" cried Job, relieved.
"According to the prophecy, you will be the victors, yes. But first you must find your keys to unlock the invincible being of power, for no one else can use the keys but you," Jeanie said.
"But we can't do that until all eight of us are well, right?" retorted Marc, looking at his dying brother. "Look at him; you can tell by the pained look on his face that he's going through torture."
"Don't worry about him," Jeanie began, "Because I know magical torsion techniques that will take care of JC." Seeing the horrified look on Marc's face, she added, "Don't distort my words; I know what I'm doing," and reached out for the boy with her wrinkled, old hands.
to be continued...
A/N: See what I mean? Anyway, that was long, well, for a "vocab paragraph". How "boa constrictor" came to be a vocab word, I will never know. And poor TK, er, JC! Ouch... I still can't believe I got that to work out so well...
