Jason Magee

Producer, Writer and Director

This is Jason’s third year involved in the Fringe, but his first year where he’s allowed to be stressed out. As producer, director and writer of Dinner in the South Pacific, he can only hope that someone in his cast doesn’t decide to quit, and make him act as well. You may remember him from such theatre-related festivals as NextFest or the Carnival of Shrieking Youth. He has also been involved with Walterdale theatre, graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in drama last year and is a founding member of Gnomadic Artists. Still wondering how he made it this far, Jason looks forward to further Gnomadic Artist successes and deep down knows this isn’t their last Fringe.

Deanna Wilkin

Director

In the summer of sequels, I guess you can say this is my directorial debut part 2. In other words, Dinner in the South Pacific is the first play I’ve ever directed (also the only play I’ve directed) and this is the second time I’m doing it. Last time was for Carnival of Shrieking Youth last year. But hey! It’s my first Fringe! Yay!!! I always wanted to be a part of the Fringe, so needless to say, I am very excited. I have to thank Jason a million times for inviting me to come aboard this time around, it truly is an honour.

Lindsay Grace Goodwin

Stage Manager

Lindsay Grace Goodwin, a student at Grant MacEwan College, has had extensive experience performing in musical theatre with St. Albert Children’s Theatre. Following a three year hiatus in Calgary she returns home to the fair city of Edmonton and is quite excited to be back in Festival City after learning that truly there’s “No day like today!” After spending the majority of her formitive years on the stage, Lindsay is eager to try out her talents offstage and even moreso to be a part of the Fringe after spending many years enjoying it as a spectator. Despite the ongoing challange, as stage manager, of having to provide ice-cold Dasani bottled water for Rachelle, bowls of tropical green M&M’s for Tara, cases of Jones Soda (with ice crystals but not frozen) for Jonny B, and seven packages of cigarettes (three of which must be open) whenever a certain actor (Luke) enters any given room, she is extremely thrilled to be here! Thanks go out to all, especially to Jason for the wonderful opportunity, and to all of you for supporting this wonderful and exciting festival!

Tara Pratt

as Emily

Tara, like Jason, graduated from the U of A Drama program last year. After receiving his degree, Jason turned to Tara and said, “Well, what next?” And Tara turned to Jason and said, “My friend, I’m going write the great Canadian novel, trek through the Andes with nothing more than a bottle of water and a loyal doggie friend, and invent a new kind of carbonated beverage that will make me famous in so many tropical resorts.” And Jason asked, “Well, before you do all that, how would you like to be in my play?” Tara simply responded, “…Yes. Yes, I will do your play.” There was much rejoicing and slurpees were had by all.

Luke Carignan

as Max

It seems I’m the only one who hasn’t received a University degree or is currently in University. I barely know what University is. That’s cuz I live in the sticks and don’t come out very often. But I have a nice castle and it’s very good pig country. This is my second go at this play. Jason was kind enough to ask me to be a part of it again and I was more than happy to oblige him. This is my second Fringe and I am very excited. Thanks go out to all of you who are here to see the show and everyone in general for supporting the theatre community and this wonderful festival.

Jon Burton

as The Very Old Waiter

Blurb. That’s a funny word, isn’t it? Jonny ‘No Thumbs’ Burton is currently pretending to be a psychology student at the University of Alberta (the longest acting gig he‘s ever done). Aside from acting (like a moron) he enjoys rock-climbing, hang-gliding and many more fun activities that have hyphens in their names. I mean, there was this one time, he was like, “we should go tobogganing.” And then his friends were all like “yeah!” Hilarity and injury ensued. Jonny gives this play two stumps up.

Rachelle Saunders

as The Gorgeous Waitress

Jon Heinen

as The Handsome Waiter

Deziree Somov

Vince Forcier

Funk Monkey

as The Monkey Butler

After such success with Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr. Monkey decided not to let up any more good shows. Going back to his roots, he will be reprising his stage role as the Monkey Butler. Acclaimed actor and entertainer extraordinaire, Mr. Monkey says it's "In my blood to be in show-biz." His grandfather Jojo played alongside Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark . Mr. Monkey looks forward to wild parties and lots of women after making it big in Dinner in the South Pacific.
