Thera Photos
Qera
Thera, aka Fera is the traditional island capital and until recently the main port of call of the island. It was from the dock of this town that the mule teams dragging up tourists became famous. Thera sits atop the Caldaria, with the majority of the town (The high rent district) on the inside of the caldaria and only a few blocks (three or four) on the other side. Being the main town, it had more tourists accommodations and therefore more tourists and tourist shops. Thera boasts typical Cycladel style houses stacked practically on top of each other, which form a labyrinth to confound the tourist as well as pirates. The buildings are older and of a wider range of periods than Ia, mainly because it survived an earthquake in the 50's more or less undisturbed. This was my base of operations though I spent equal time here and in Ia.

I hope you enjoy the photos. Any comments, please E-mail me, .Please note that to save time I got a photo-cd which is an inferior quality to what I normally post.
