At Midgard Castle:

At the war room of Midgard Castle, Prontera City. King Yukei together with his Generals and Knights were having a meeting concerning the Highlanders plot to attack their beloved Castle.  

King Yukei: my generals, the Seer Leknaat has told me in my dreams that the Higland army of Prince Luca and King Jowy Blight are going to attack us in two days time.

  Sir Flik: yes my lord, our spies have told us that there about 20,000 Highlanders that will attack us. Not counting the armies of General Solon Jhee and Sir Culgan. Their armies are amounting to at about 20,000 soldiers on each of them.

King Yukei: Oh my! What shall we do???  We must protect our castle no matter what the cost may be! There were murmurs and whispers at the room… finally, Sir Viktor of the Mercenary Army spoke.

Sir Viktor: My Lord, I assure you that  my mercenaries and I will protect this castle.

King Yukei: Thank you Viktor. By the way, my Generals,  may I know how many soldiers do we have? Do we have enough soldiers to fight the Highlanders??

Strategist Shu: Not counting Viktor’s mercs, which are about 2,000, our castle guards are about 5,000. Sir Flik’s units are about 3,000, The Blue Knights of Sir Miklotov are amounting to 3,000, The Red Knights of Sir Camus is about 2,000. Apprehension filled the place.

King Yukei: Hmmmm, well, all in all, we have about 15,000 soldiers on our side! Well, Lord Shu, and Lady Apple, my two best strategists, what shall we do? We cannot win on such a small army!

Lady Apple: Since we need about 50,000 soldiers, we must seek help from our allies!!

 a sudden ray of hope filled the area.

King Yukei: hmmm, our allies are the Rokkaku Ninjas of Kasumi, and Kobold and Winger armies of Two River City, the GSG army of Mistress Kakurine and the Scarlet Moon army of Mistress Yuumi. Well, how can we contact them?? How can we send messengers to their kingdoms?? The Highlanders are coming in 2 days time? We don’t have enough time!! What shall we do to somehow weaken the morale of the Highland soldiers??

Lord Shu: That is where the mercs of Viktor will come in.

Sir Viktor: whaaaaaaat? What does it have to do with my mercs??

Lord Shu: what can your mercs do?? Since your mercenaries were trained on guerilla warfare, you and your mercs need to set up traps around the castle and around the forests.

Sir Viktor: And then what will happen on those traps? Ahhhh, I get your point, we need to set up traps to somehow reduce the number of enemy soldiers right??

Lord Shu: yes! That’s exactly what I want!!!!

Sir Viktor: ok then, its settled, I have to go now with my mercs to set up the traps. By the power of my star dragon sword, I shall defend and protect this castle with all my power!

King Yukei: all right. Viktor, this is our only chance to defeat the enemy. We are counting on you! And please do take care of yourself. Come back as soon as the traps are laid. All right??

Sir Viktor: Thank you my Lord. Well, I’m going to go now, my Lord.

Sir Viktor steps out the war room. Then a Midgard soldier enters the room. Running and panicking, he quickly approaches Lord Shu, who looks awestruck about the news he has heard.

King Yukei: what is it Lord Shu?

Lord Shu: Lord Yukei!! This soldier has just informed me that the Highlanders have added 50,000 soldiers to their present number which is 60,000 soldiers!! Which means, that the soldiers from their allies have come to help them invade our castle! These armies are headed by Sasarai, the Seer, Lady Lucia of the Kanakan Tribe and General Yuber, the black Knight!! The total number of enemy soldiers are now amounting to about 110,000 soldiers all in all!! Lady Apple (looking worried): With that kind of number, we are sure to lose! My! What are we going to do? With just 15,000 soldiers? My Lord, please let me go, I want to personally ask our allies to send some of their soldiers to help us fight the Highlanders.

King Yukei (also looking worried): ok ok! But be sure that you take some aides when you go. Ill be expecting your answer tomorrow Lady Apple. Please take Flik with you. He will serve as a bodyguard on your journey. Also, take some soldiers.  Sir Flik, protect Lady Apple with all your life ok?

Sir Flik: Don’t worry my Lord, I’ll do anything as you please… I’ll protect Lady Apple even if it will cost my life!

Lady Apple: Thank you my Lord. I’ll send the message as soon as we get there. I will finish this mission even if it costs my life!!!… Long live the City of Midgard!!!!

King Yukei: Thank you very much Flik and Apple! Go now before you get caught by the Highlanders.

Lady Apple left with Sir Flik… then King Yukei looked back at Lord Shu, who happens to be thinking of what they are going to do.

King Yukei: what will be our plan Lord Shu?

Lord Shu: This will be our plan my Lord. After Viktor and his unit set up the traps, we will place our archer units which are led by Kinnison on top of our four towers, on defensive position. Then, our castle guards will guard the back of the castle. Miklotov’s Blue Knights will seal off the right wing of the castle, and Camus’s Red Knights will seal off the left wing. Viktor’s unit will be at the forest, holding guerilla warfare position to ambush the enemy soldiers.

King Yukei: what about the front wing of our castle?? Who will guard them??

Lord Shu: I will lead an army and try to protect the front wing of the castle.

King Yukei: you will need my help too Shu.

Lord Shu: I think I can very well handle myself my Lord. Better stay at the castle.

King Yukei: but I want to help too!!!!! I want to lead an army unit too!!

Lord Shu: but?…………

King Yukei: you cannot stop me Shu! I am the Ruler of this kingdom and I will also fight for its defense!!! I swore to protect this city no matter what the cost!!!

Lord Shu: Very well, I have no choice. Your army can join mine. Together, we will defend our kingdom side by side!!!

King Yukei: well it’s settled then, that is what we are going to do. People, we need to rest and wait for the message of Apple and Flik. We need some rest. Tomorrow morning, all of you must go to your following posts! Is that understood?

All: Yes my lord!!! For the City of Midgard!!!!

hen, one by one, the Generals left the great hall.  

King Yukei was left with his wife, Queen Ikukou. Queen Ikukou looked very worried and concerned about her husband.

Queen Ikukou: My dear, I’m scared! What if………….

King Yukei: Don’t worry my love. I wont let anything happen to you or my son. I also promise that I will take care of myself during the war.

Queen Ikukou: I know! But I am still troubled. What if you die during the war? What if ………

King Yukei: I swore to protect this city and this castle as long as I live. I wont die,  my dear… I’ll assure you that! I will promise that we will win this war and that nothing will happen to me! Besides, swords have no effect on me!!! Hahahahahaha!!

Queen Ikukou: (laughs slightly), I know dear!! With that spirit of yours,  those soldiers will be scared to face you!! Hahahahaha!!! Promise me that you wont die dear?? Promise me!!

King Yukei: I promise! I love you my Queen!!

Queen Ikukou: (slightly relieved) and I love you too my dear! Come on dear, you have a big day ahead of you tomorrow. We need to rest! Good night to you my dear!

King Yukei: you’re right. It’s been a long day. Good night too my love.

So, Queen Ikukou and King Yukei left the war room and went straight to bed. King Yukei laid down to bed but didn’t sleep yet. King Yukei kept thinking of what will happen to him or his family during the war, he kept thinking of what will happen if they lose the battle? What will happen if they win? Then, he fell into a deep stupor.

The following morning. Queen Ikukou awakens King Yukei.

Queen Ikukou: my dear, You are needed at the war room. The message of Apple has just arrived.

King Yukei: (still sleepy) wha --- what? Oh I see, tell them that I will be down in a minute!

At the Great Hall. The room was full of tension. Some of the King’s generals looked worried and awestruck.

King Yukei strides in.

King Yukei: what is the commotion all about??? Silence!!!!

Everyone falls silent!

Lord Shu: My Lord, we have some bad news!! The enemy soldiers came too early than we expected! We have to fight them now!

King Yukei: WHAT?? I thought they were coming in 2 days time?? what about Apple’s message? How did their mission go?

Lord Shu: My Lord, Apple’s report assures us that we have help from our allies!! But Apple and Flik were separated. Flik’s unit encountered a band of Highlanders along the way and fought with them. He told Apple to go on and get back here as soon as she can while Flik held off the Highlanders out of Apple’s way.

King Yukei: what happened to Flik?? Is he ok?? I hope he is. We need him to protect the castle. He is one of my finest Generals. I’m sure that he can protect himself!!

Lord Shu: I hope so. By the way my Lord, Apple’s report states that we are assured of 30,000 soldiers from Mistress Kakurine, 20,000 from the ninjas of Kasumi, 15,000 Kobolds and Wingers from Two River City, and of course Mistress Yuumi will add 5,000 more.

King Yukei: With that kind of force, we CAN’T win!!!  We still lack help from our allies!!!

Lord Shu: Don’t worry your Highness, Apple also assured that we can get help from other nearby allies like the Warrior’s Village lead by Lord Stealth. The Warrior’s Village will send it’s most elite unit lead by General Shinji. Also, Lord Stealth himself will come to help us. All in all, they are composed of assassins, swordsmen, and archers, amounting to about 10,000. so all in all, we will have 95,000 volunteers who will help us along the way.

King Yukei: hmmm, very well, I am hoping that Viktor will be able to reduce the enemy forces by half. And with that kind of tactical defense, we are sure to win this battle!!!!

Lord Shu: I hope so, King Yukei. I really do hope that Viktor will make it!
