My
Promise
I dreamed, I gazed into a pair of eyes,
that were so dark with pain,
I wondered, what his story was, and
asked him to explain.
He said, "You are a mother, you have
children of your own,
You know your heart would break, if
to them, you were unknown.
You know, you'd give your life for them,
to keep them safe from harm,
And if they did not love you, still
for them your heart would yearn.
Well, you see, I love my children and
I hung on a cross,
Because I love them dearly, for them
I paid the cost.
There are some who've never heard, of
the life I gave,
They do not know I love them, and their
souls I long to save.
Some have drifted far away, never to
return,
I want to save them from the fire,
that will forever burn.
But, they do not love me, and they do
not believe,
In my Father, who sent me, their souls
to receive.
Until the day that I return to earth,
to claim my own,
My heart will ache in loneliness, 'til
my children all come home."
I promised Him, right there and then,
that I would do my part,
To spread His name throughout the world,
to help heal His aching heart.
And to the ones who don't believe,
I'll try and try again,
To help them understand, He is, their
Saviour, Lord, and King.
