The Hawaiian Love Cabinet
As balance to the war chest I did this light and goofy piece. Love love love all we need is love...
The two large dahlias on the front symbolize a happy man and a love woman. He is the hot sun, forceful and driven, and she offers him her pineapple, the welcome fruit of the islands. They created the white dahlia, their child. The piece is fruitful and lucious...flowers, fruits, vegies. The love hearts are cut out of love apples, tomatoes. And at the very bottom three bluebirds fly through the billowy sky.
Images on the top include sensuous flowers, ripe vegies, and lovelips.
"The War Chest"
This is a huge trunk like those who passed those Ellis Island would have brought with them. I started documenting the war. That turned to a plea for preserving our civil rights, then everything was swamped out by anthrax. It is indeed a war chest...an ongoing work. Ultimately one of hope.
