Top row, far left tile is #5803 color B. Clay body is B-Mix C6.
21 Gerstley Borate
16 Nepheline Syenite
11 Kaolin
20 Whiting
32 Silica
B. color add: 2% cobalt oxide
Top row second tile from left is #6471 on BMix. The glaze is badly crazed on this body, where it applied thicker. I'll have to check it on another body and probably revamp it a bit. It's a pretty green, not as bright as the picture shows. I've revamped it, to lower the expansion. Here's the revamped recipe: #6471 V2
29.30 Custer Feldspar
16.00 Gerstley Borate
7.00 Whiting
5.00 Dolomite
13.70 EPK
Add: Copper Carbonate 3% for a pretty light green. Or try 4% Copper oxide for a darker green.
Top row, third tile from left is Peacock blue #6144. This is on an iron bearing stoneware (look best on this type of body). You can find this recipe in the Clayart archives. The tile is a better light, quiet blue than it appears here. This is a lovely, soft blue glaze with some flecking . The glaze to the right of this is Peacock blue as well, but on a white body.
Second row from top, far left tile is June Perry Calcium Eutectic type matt #7473V3 ColorZZZ (Base recipe is on C6 glaze group #4 page). This is a light olive, a bit like some northern celadons.
Color ZZZ Add: 1.5% Red Iron oxide, 1.5% Copper Carbonate, 2% Tin oxide.
Second row from top, second tile from left is a beautiful, rich, buttery, raspberry chrome tin glaze # 6170 on BMix body.
35 Nepheline Syenite
15 Whiting
9 Ferro Frit 3134
10 Kentucky OM#4 Ball Clay
19 Silica
2 Bentonite
10 Tin Oxide
Total 100
ADD: Chrome oxide 0.15%
Second row from top, third tile from left is #6288 on Bmix clay. It's darker and not as bright as the one to its left.
**This glaze is at it's loveliest on a white body. I tested it on an iron bearing stoneware and the color was duller and a hair more matt. If you want the brighter version and you are using a dark body, just apply a white engobe or porcelain slip.
25.00 Nepheline Syenite
10.5 Gerstley Borate
18.5 Whiting
9.5 Grolleg Kaolin
36.5 Silica
ADD: Tin oxide 7%, Chrome oxide 0.32%
**This recipe seems to be within cone 10 limits. based on my glaze software. It has an expansion of 7.24 and Silica/alumina ration of 10.33, which would make it a gloss at cone 10. Because it is obviously under matured for cone 6 I would advise to use it only one non functional work
Second row far right is a Clayart Purple glaze #6472
37 Custer Feldspar
12 Gerstley Borate
6 Dolomite
14 Talc
3 Zinc Oxide
5 EPK
23 Silica
Total 100
ADD: Cobalt Carbonate 3, Bentonite 2
Third row from the top, far left tile is a beautiful deep green (picture doesn't show the true color). It's glaze #6610V3 Color D which is 4% rutile, 0.9% cobalt carbonate, 2% copper oxide.
Third row from the top, 2nd tile from left, is a Barium copper blue called "Brilliant Blue", on Helios P5 porcelain. This recipe is from Ian Currie's book- "Stoneware Glazes- A Systematic Approach". For my purposes I've numbered it: #7329 Brilliant Blue
8.9 Soda Ash
8.0 Ferro Frit 3134
37.5 Nepheline Syenite
2.4 Lithium Carbonate
17.7 Strontium carbonate
20.8 EPK
4.7 Flint
A: add 3% Copper Carbonate 0.2% Cobalt Carbonate
This is a beautiful glaze both in color and surface. Because of the soluble material it contains. make sure you add the right amount of water, because if you add too much and pour off the excess, you'll be losing some of the fluxes.
Third row from top, third tile from left is June Perry's Calcium Eutectic type matt #7473V3 Z color (see C6 glaze group 4 page for base recipe) This is a beautiful, buttery, light, warm yellow.
Z Color Add: 1% Rutile, 1% Red Iron Oxide, 3% Tin oxide.
Third row from top, far right tile is June Perry's Calcium Eutectic type matt #7473V3 Color Q (base recipe is on C6 glaze group #4 page) Buttery matt, soft pale blue.
Q Color Add: 1 Copper Carbonate, 0.18 Cobalt Carbonate, 0.25 Chrome oxide, & Zircopax
Bottom row, far left tile is June Perry #7096 Color B (see C6 Glaze group 1 page for base recipe)
B Color Add: 7.5% Rutile, 5% tin oxide
Bottom row, 2nd tile from left is #8116A a recipe from my friend Veena
Raghavan The tile is Highwater's 5-6 porcelain. This is a very pretty,
soft, rutile blue.
20 Ferro Frit 3134
20 Dolomite
20 Spodumene
20 Om#4 Ball Clay
20 Silica
A: add copper carb 2%, cobalt carb 0.5%, Tin oxide 5%
Bottom row, third tile from left is actually two color versions of the same glaze. It was first dipped in #7277 Indian C 6-8 Color A, and then the top half was dipped in cobalt blue version. I will have to check my work sheet and post the Color additions later. I believe it's about 1% Cobalt oxide; but I'm not sure. The test is on a porcelain body.
Custer Feldspar 40
Whiting 15
China Clay 5
Dolomite 3
Zinc Oxide 4
Silica 33
Color A,ADD: Chrome .50%, Red Iron Oxide 4%
Bottom row, far right tile is June Perry's #6711V4 Color F on a porcelain clay body. This was a revision for a friend of a high magnesia C10 glaze . This has higher magnesia than is recommended for a C6 glaze but everything else is within limits. I'm still working on this glaze and want to test it on other bodies.
Nepheline Syenite 31.0
Talc 20.0
Om#4 Ball Clay 6.5
Silica 10.0
Ferro Frit 3195 15.5
Ferro Frit 3134 13.0
Custer Feldspar 5.0
F Color, ADD: 2% Copper Carbonate, 1% Cobalt Carbonate, 2% Tin Oxide.
