Snooty projects 3
Moving on up!

RoseRocks

I just decided I like to work with wire! This is my first project - a bracelet of 20ga sterling, rose quartz nuggets with a handmade hook clasp.

My problem at this stage is ... do I take it any further?  I just love the chunky rocks and the "heavy metal" look, but would the bracelet have more appeal if it had some contrasting smaller danglies too?

This is what the Muse had me evolve the bracelet into this morning - I added Baha amethyst to each rose quartz dangle, some jazzed up a bit with peridot chips.

The idea was to try and break me out of my "everything must be symmetrical" box.

I also added one Baha amethyst that could be used as a link if desired, for a larger wrist.  As it is, the bracelet fits my 6 1/2" wrist fairly snugly and I just leave that last amethyst link dangling. It adds an extra 1 1/2" to the length.

This weeks project is freeform peyote - my attempt at breaking out of my symmetrical box!

It's not finished, and it still seems rather regimented to me but I still have to embellish it.

It measures 7½" long so I'm thinking of using the "hole" at the bottom as a buttonhole, and stitching a button at the top end, rather than a loop type closure or toggle.

I've used 8/0 Dyna-Mites, silver "perles", 11/0 matte irises, some crazy vintage black seed beads that are totally irregular in form and size, and I'm not sure exactly what the metallic bronze beads are, but they're small, irregular and silver-lined.  Embellishments incorporated into the bracelet so far are Chinese porcelain, faux pearls, vintage crystal and purple Indian pressed glass.
