Walking Alone

Note: I began to think about this text when I was in Japan around the end of January of 1997). When I started to write it in my computer, I realized I had only a few isolated words and they didn't look any good simply listed. I tried to create a poem to gather them, but the rhymes sounded unnatural, like clichés. So I tried to imagine a rhythm, an accompaniment for a music, and wrote lyrics for that music. Finally, to help me to choose the words, I took what I call seed-words (like seed-crystals used to create artificial crystals). Writing this text became a kind of game that I really enjoyed to play, what led me to write others.

Under my body there's only my shadow
Not even my footprints I leave on the land
I didn't find any signal of life
Can anyone hear my voice?
Over my shoulder, I'm looking behind
Restless I seek one sight of love
No one had ever a thought for me
Silently I pass through the crowd

When I am dreaming, I release my tears
And they find home in friendly hands
Nested together we gaze new stars
Do dreams come true in this world of yours?
Everyday I move to the ocean
Render my prayers on waves of the sea
If you get one and wonder who wrote it
Name me a whisper, for sure I'll hear.
Going forward, walking alone
Shade of memory, searching for a light
