Reflection on Technology
As an artist and arts educator, my philosophy on technology is that the use of technology is a form of artistic expression on a higher level. The use of technology in the classroom prepares students for the real world, where technology is abundant. As an arts educator, I believe that technology is an excellent way to bring the concept of creative expression into all subject matters. From desktop publishing to web mastering, students must use their creative brains with their analytical brains in order to effectively complete projects. Technology also promotes higher-level thinking skills in every aspect, which leads to higher levels of intelligence. Technology promotes teamwork and collaborative learning, which are essential skills in today’s society. Technology can be used by instructors to aid in teaching; it can be used by instructors to facilitate learning as well as to enhance learning. Technology can be used by learners to improve basic skills, to improve self-esteem through artistic expression, and reach higher levels of thinking.
