Joe Weber (b.1867.08.11, New York; d.1942.05.10, Hollywood, CA) Lew Fields (b.1867.01.20, New York; d.1941.07.20, Bevery Hills, CA) (aka "Louis Maruice Fields) [Src: Ency.Brit, 2002ed, Vol.12, p.545] "Sons of Polish imigrants, they first appeared together in the Bowery in New York. [In 1905 [Time Line]], they take their show to Broadway (in New York). Their musical shows include: Twirly Whirly THe Geezer Whoop De-Doo Hoity Toity These consist of songs, dance, comedy skits, and burlesques of popular plays. Of Fields' children Dorthy (1905-1974) was a writer of song lyrics and a librettist, as was Herbert (1897-1958), with whom she wrote the librettos of "Let's Face It" (1941; music by Cole Porter) and "Annie Get Your Gun" (1946; music by Irving Berlin).
