Reason behind the name: In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman on earth. Zeus had become angry because Prometheus stole fire from the gods to give to men. Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create an evil being whom all men would desire. Hephaestus created a woman from earth and water. All the gods gave the woman gifts, and so she was named Pandora, which means all-gift. Athena gave Pandora knowledge in the arts, and Aphrodite made her beautiful. Hermes gave Pandora cunning and flattery, and the Graces clothed her. The new creation was presented to Epimetheus, who accepted her in spite of warnings from his brother, Prometheus. Pandora had brought with her a box which the gods warned her never to open. But she couldn't resist her curiosity, and finally raised the lid. All the world's vices, sins, diseases, and troubles instantly flew out. Pandora shut the lid quickly, but only Hope, man's last comfort, was left. Pandora is my favorite Greek goddess, because she reminds me of myself. I had her be my earth nymph because she was created from clay (earth and water) and is curious like a cat. Plus I just like the name Pandora.
Reason behind the nymph: I got three cats for my 6th birthday (I think), and since then I've been crazy about cats. I have cat posters hanging on my bedroom wall, and I always get a cat calendar every year. I've had several other cats besides my original three. My life feels empty without cats, even if I don't get to spend much time with them. I can really identify with the cat's personality. Cats are one of the reasons for my troubled childhood, but I still love them. Cats love me too. I can make an authentic meow, and cats always turn their heads at me, confused that a cat's voice came from a human's mouth. In addition to cats, I love the other things of earth like plants and rocks. I used to help my dad garden in the yard; I didn't mind getting dirty. One of the few feminine things I do is I wear jewelry. I don't do it to be pretty, but because I love the different color gemstones and the stories surrounding them. The Earth has many beautiful treasures that often go unappreciated. Too bad the humans usually turn all the beauty into ugliness.
