ATKBO Review
The film pretty much is a play by play of the first Spider-Man film. Our hero Rick Ricker is on a school field trip at a pharmaceutical company. He flirts with Jill, whose boyfriend Lance, notices and pushes Rick into animal poo. Rick attempts to wash it off with what he thought was a bottle of water however he suspects it wasn’t as animals and insects in the building all hop on him including a dragonfly which bites his neck in turn making him Dragonfly (Superhero/Spiderman). Lance uncle Lou has built a new machine that will cure all health problems however it back fires and he ends up becoming the Hourglass (Villain/Green Goblin).
Both will now learn how to harness their new powers and find out their weaknesses. Ultimately Hourglass wants to become immortal and needs to kill people to do so, which of course Dragonfly will try to put a stop to.
The movie is very readable and the jokes are few and far between which is not really good for a film that relies on laughs alone. I was somewhat pleased with Meet the Spartans due to my low expectations however I had some hope for this one but left sadly disappointed its really dreadful and a painful way to spend a couple of hours. Old pro Leslie Nielsen is the only saving grace showing he can still pull off his same slapstick humour he’s brought us for what seems to be an eternity.
