ATKBO Review
Andie (Briana Evigan) lives with her guardian Sara who is sick of her skipping school and hanging out with her gang (the 410) so she is sending her to her Aunt’s in Texas. Friend, Tyler (Channing Tatum) knows of Andie’s situation and urges her to attend MSA which he attended and which changed his life. The two of them convince Sara so she can stay, but during her audition Andie stuffs up. The director’s brother (Chase played by Robert Hoffman from MTV's Wild'N Out) is present at the audition and persuades his brother to take her on as a challenge, as he has an eye on her.
We then see Andie having a hard time adjusting to MSA falling behind, and also missing 410 practices which she eventually gets kicked out of. By now she and Chase have a connection and after mentioning her fallout with 410 Chase gets her to start her own crew and states he’ll be her first member.
It is from now the two crews will practice and battle on and off the dance floor. Alliances will be broken while threats, fights, vandalism, and pranks will all lead the crews to one final battle for THE STREETS!
Despite being the new kids on the block, both leads Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman (MTV's Wild'N Out) put in as good as can be expected roles. Without a doubt the acting was never going to be the drawing pull for the film or its predecessor but rather the dance moves/steps and its new intuitive stunts to keep it fresh among the sleuth of dance flix recently pushed out. However, the beautiful Briana certainly didn’t hurt its pulling power in eyes of her opposite sex.
Many would suggest the original is much better, and in my humble opinion would agree, however don’t hold your breath too long as Step Up 3 in 3D is being fast tracked as film companies continue to push out these cheap teen titles till the milk runs dry.
