Homecoming
Cordelia thinks that she is a shoe in for Homecoming Queen, but when her bad attitude gets to be too much for Buffy to take, the Slayer awakens her prom queen within and launches a campaign against Cordy. The two pull out all the stops to defeat one another in the race, a basic popular pole around the Sunnydale campus, including baking cookies, muffins and putting flyers up in every corner of the school. All the while, Buffy is being stalked by some mysterious figures in a van who turn out to be apart of Slayerfest '98-a Most Dangerous Gamestyle event organized by the Vampire likes of Mr. Trick, which has attracted assassins from around the world to finally do away with the Slayer problem in Sunnydale. Faith is also targeted, as she is the second thorn in Mr. Trick's side. As tensions between Buffy and Cordelia rise, a limousine arrives to pick each of them up for the dance. Thinking it was set up by the rest of the gang, in order for them to work everything out between one another, they go. However, they soon discover that the limousine leads to Slayerfest '98! Working together, Buffy and Cordelia literally fight the assassins and win their way to the dance, where both of them lose the Homecoming Queen race. The romancing between Xander and Willow is also shown in this episode, as the two long time friends start to look at each in a different light. This episode also introduces the Mayor. Scott dumps Buffy, well they were not really serious, but it was still a shock to Buffy, but it is convinient as she is taking care of Angel, nursing him back to full strength.
