Chapter 1

Confrontations

"Man, are they ever going to sell that house?" said eighteen year old Cassandra to her twenty three year old sister Coreene. Isabella, her nineteen year old other sister who was just coming down the stairs asked,

"What house?"

"Der, the one right next to ours," said Coreene. "I don't know. I thought I heard some talk about some cute guys moving into it!"

"Yeah right," said Cassandra. "Cute guys, on this street? In this town even? The closest guys to cute in this town are Jonathan and Andrew."

"Hey, what about Devon?" asked Coreene. Mercedes, Cassandra's twenty-two year old cousin, who was just entering the conversation asked,

"Yeah, and Eric, too! What about them?"

"Oh yeah, what about them?"

"Our boyfriends are cute!" said Mercedes.

"Then how come you guys haven't talked about them in a while?"

"Well," said Coreene, "um, yeah. Well what about Robert?" she asked Cassandra.

"Bobby! Are you kidding me? That asshole can go to hell for all I care! As if he's not already there! Him and the rest of his idiots. No offence Nicole and Emalia, but Nathan and Burke included." Her cousins Nicole, who was sixteen and Emalia who was twenty two, that were sitting on the couch watching television, turned around, and defended their boyfriends.

"They are not!" screeched Emalia.

"Yeah!" chimed Nicole. "Just because you dated a loser boyfriend, doesn't mean that you can go dissing ours!"

"That's cold Nicole! You know that Richard, Nathan, and Burke follow around Bobby all of the time. They're just as big of bastards as Bobby is." Nicole and Emalia stood up to face their cousin.

"Come on you guys, knock it off! You're getting to be as bad as them!" said Isabella and stood in between the three of them.

"You're right. Sorry guys. I guess that I just need to vent out some anger. Actually, I will say that Nathan and Burke, do have their good moments."

"We're sorry too," said Nicole. "We shouldn't have gone there."

"You know," said Emalia, "Mercedes is really the only one that has done good with men. She does have Eric after all!" Mercedes blushed.

"Thanks guys! Eric is pretty sweet, isn't he?"

"Okay, Mercedes, snap out of it," said Isabella. "Haven't you seen him hanging around Richard lately?"

"What? No I haven't! He has not. Let's go find him. I'll prove it." She stopped for a second then said, "You guys hear that pounding?" said Mercedes.

"Yeah, I do," said Cassandra. "I was just going to say something about it. Let's go outside and see what it is."

Cassandra, Isabella, Emalia, Nicole, Coreene, and Mercedes walked out of their house, and into the summer sunshine. A real estate broker was hammering a sold sign on the house next to them.

"Excuse me," said Isabella to the broker.

"Yes?" she said.

"Do you know who is going to be moving into that house?"

"Actually, I don't know their exact names, but there is a whole group moving in."

"Thank you," said Isabella, and the six of them turned around and went the opposite way down the street, and around the block to Eric's house. On the way, Emalia commented,

"Oh great, that's just what we need. A whole group moving in right next to us! I bet they're real jerks!"

"Or maybe I was right," said Coreene.

"About what?" said Nicole.

"About there being cute guys moving into that house." Just as they were rounding the corner, Cassandra stopped them quick.

"What now Cass?" said Isabella.

"It's Eric, and he's with Devon, Nathan, Burke, Richard and-"

"And who?" shouted Mercedes. The group of guys heard them.

"Hey, it's my bitch!"

"And Bobby," said Cassandra. Mercedes leaned over to Cassandra and said,

"Oh Cassie, you were right! What is he doing with those guys?"

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out." Cassandra left the safety of her pack, and crossed over the battle line.

"No Cassie! Be careful!" Emalia yelled after her.

"Eric, what the hell are you doing, hanging around with all of these losers? Aren't you different than them, or are you just as big of a bastard?" said Cassandra.

"Oh come on Cassie baby. Those are such big words for such a stupid girl. Come on. I'll take my girl home," said Bobby and grabbed her arm.

"Bobby stop it! You're hurting me! Eric you're my friend, and my cousin's boyfriend. Don't do this! Don't get into a league with stupid football jocks." She shook loose from Robert, and pushed him.

"You're such a bitch, Cassandra!" he said and slammed her hard against a tree.

"Listen Bobby-"

"No you listen-" Before he could finish that sentence, Jonathan and Andrew grabbed Bobby from behind.

"Leave her alone loser," said Andrew.

"Why don't you go play with your little gay friend Andrew."

"Shut up ass hole. Let's go Cassandra." Jonathan and Andrew escorted their friend to her sisters and cousins.

"Thanks you guys," said Isabella. Just then, something grabbed Mercedes from behind.

"Eric!"

"Come on, let's go," said Eric and started to pull at Mercedes. She started to go with him, but then looked at her cousins and pulled away.

"No, Eric. It's over. You're with Bobby's clan now. And I really can't respect that you're one of them now." She went back to her cousins, and with them, Jonathan, and Andrew, they all walked back to their house.

When they got back to the front door of their house, Jonathan and Andrew said that they were going to take off.

"Thanks so much you guys," said Cassandra and hugged them both. They said that they had somewhere to go, and they all exchanged their goodbyes.

After they had walked out of sight and the other four had gone inside for some lunch, Cassandra and Coreene walked over to the front lawn, and laid down.

"I wish that I hadn't seen that today," said Coreene.

"Seen what? Bobby?"

"No, Devon. I know that he didn't do anything, or say anything, but I'm going to end it." She paused then said, "you know, I really wish that you hadn't started it with Bobby."

"Today?"

"Yes, but ever. That you ever started anything with him."

"Yeah I know. But he was the best in the beginning, and I still have to admit that he was a great kisser."

"Yeah, so was Devon."

"Whatever Coreene. Devon's still a good guy. I know that he does hang around those losers, but I know that he's different, and you do too."

"Well, whatever, then I'm just going to ask for some space."

"I think that could be your wisest decision yet!"

"Hey!" said Coreene. She and Cassandra jumped up and ran back into the house.

Isabella and Emalia had been busy inside making lunch for everyone.

"You guys know where Andy and Jon had to be?" asked Emalia.

"No why? Does it matter?" asked Nicole who was sprawled on the couch.

"No, but, whatever."

"I think someone has a crush!" said Mercedes.

"No I don't! But I am going to crush Nathan! He's such a, oh man he's a bastard! Thanks so much Cassie!"

"What! Why is everyone blaming me for their relationship problems?"

"Because, it's just easier!" said Nicole.

"Hey! That's not fair!" defended Cassandra half laughing.

"Okay guys, no more fighting. I think that we've had enough fighting for one day!" said Isabella. "Besides, lunch is ready."
