Chapter 4

The Pool

They continued to talk. When the conversation died down, Jonathan suggested that they should leave because it was getting late.

"I think that we are going to try to stay at our house tonight," said A.J.

"Yeah, we'll just camp outside tonight," said Brian. "Do you guys need any help with the dishes?"

"No, we'll be fine," said Mercedes.

"Are you sure?" said Brian.

"Yes, now you guys go, it's late. We'll hopefully see you guys tomorrow."

They went inside and woke up Emalia and Kevin. They all said their goodbyes, and the guys left. Andrew and Jonathan went across the street, and Nick, Brian, Kevin, Howie, and A.J. went next door. The only thing that they had in their house, was a television with Nick's nintendo, and a couple of tents. Kevin, A.J., and Howie went outside to set up the tents, while Nick and Brian set up a game.

They started to play, when Brian said,

"Hey Nick, you're doing pretty bad, what's up with you?"

"Oh, nothing," Nick said, "let's play.

"No, talk to me," said Brian and turned the game off.

"Hey!" said Nick.

"Come on Nick talk to me."

"There's nothing to say."

"Come on, it's B-Rok. Talk to me bud!"

"Fine. You seem to like Mercedes and all right?"

"You don't like her do you?"

"Yes, no, not that way-"

"Okay good, because she's mine."

"You're supposed to be listening."

"Sorry, anyway," said Brian.

"Anyway," Nick continued, "I don't know if Cassandra likes me or not. She seems like she does and all but I don't know. I can still smell her strawberry chapstick."

"Yeah, she was wearing that today."

"How did you know?" said Nick standing up.

"She kissed me."

"When?"

"When we took you back from the movies. She kissed me on the cheek."

"Why?"

"Because, I guess, I don't know. It was nothing!"

"It better be nothing!" said Nick heading for the door to the backyard.

"Chill, dude. It really was nothing. Hey, you must really like her, don't you?"

"I don't know, maybe." They both walked outside saying nothing more. The tents were set up, and they were ready to go to bed.

"A.J. you still got your trunks on," said Kevin.

"They're dry!" said A.J. "Besides, I'm too lazy to change."

About an hour later, it was pitch black out, and everyone in the two houses were asleep, except for Isabella. She walked out onto her pitch black porch in her bathing suit, and turned on the pool light. She dived in trying to be quiet, but the splash woke up A.J. He thought that he heard a splash, but decided it was nothing. When he heard it again, he got up out of his tent. He peered over the wooden fence in their yard, and saw Isabella swimming. He climbed over the fence, and over to the edge of their pool.

"Howdy, Miss." She gasped then turned around. She brushed her wet hair out of her face and said,

"A.J.! What are you doing here? I'm sorry did I wake you up?"

"Yes, but don't be sorry about it. May I join you?"

"Um, sure," said Isabella, trying hard to conceal her excitement. A.J. jumped in an swam towards her. He reached her, and they both swam out towards the middle. "I really like you A.J., a lot," said Isabella looking away. He touched her face and turned it to face him.

"I really like you too, Isabella. A lot." They gazed into each other's eyes for a minute. He held her face in his hands then pulled it to him. He pressed his lips up against hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he wrapped his arms around her waist. They both took a deep breath, then let go of standing, and sank to the bottom of the pool. They kissed under the water until they ran out of breath. They came up for air, then submerged again.

"Aww, how sweet!" said Coreene quietly to Nicole, who were watching from the window upstairs above the pool.

"We shouldn't watch anymore," said Nicole. Coreene agreed, and they went back to bed.
