PETER FRANCIS
A Presentation review by Dianne V'Marie

Peter Francis, in his workshop on "Creating A Dynamic Stage Presence," initially enticed us to stay by offering free pizza and beer to all attendees - but then really kept us in the room and on the edge of our chairs by revealing "his" secrets. I must say Peter certainly has mastered creating a stage presence as a sought-after management development consultant with his quick wit and energetic style.

After asking "What is it that any speaker needs to do to improve his or her stage presence?" Peter offered this guideline: To spend TIME (Teach, Inspire, Motivate, and Entertain) with our audience.

When planning a talk, he suggested that we figure out a way to incorporate these four aspects into it.

That's not all according to Peter. A speaker must make certain that his Five "P's" (Passion, Purpose, Preparation, Practice, and Presentation) are part of the perfect talk too. (The p's are underlined on purpose.) When the "Five P's" are used property, according to Peter, people would prefer to hear a talk about a trip to Bermuda than to visit there themselves.

By this time, I realized it was no mistake that Peter's first name begins with the same letter. He practices what he preaches.

"How can a speaker ignite the fire in an audience?" asked Peter. Use "FLAMES," he said. Flames are sparked by using Flow, Learning Styles, Abject Fear (a healthy respect for the process), Mixing it up, and Engaging the audience with the Emotion of a incere Self. Peter encouraged us to pass along the excitement of the topic and connect with the audience.

With his three lists, almost recipes for successful speaking, Frank made it seem easy. Listening to his engaging talk and comfortable speaking style made it sound easy. Peter shared his secrets of success with us. ..now all we need to do is to take the time to work on becoming dynamic speakers, one small step at a time.
