Lee Wagner,
DTM, joined Aztec Toastmasters in July, 1982. She became an area
governor in old S-2 in 1986-87 under District Governor Judy Hancock
and was District Treasurer under District Governor Jim Davis in
1988-89 until she moved to England with her husband Bob following his
job transfer.
Toastmasters was a big part
of their life in London while they were in England from 1989-1991, according
to Lee. "When I got to London, there was only 1 club. When I left,
there were 3---so one could say I tripled the number of clubs in England."
"I got my first DTM
in London, when the International Toastmasters President Ed Bick
came to visit District 71. I was also named the Outstanding
Toastmaster of District 71 for 1990-91---all of England & Ireland.
We really had a wonderful time in London---the district conferences alternated
between Ireland & England. We attended all of them while we lived
there."
Lee ran for Lt. Gov of Marketing
in 1993, & worked with Glenn Pike to implement the "1 new
member per club per month campaign." She then was Lt. Governor
of Education & Training in 1994-95, and District Governor in
1995-96.
"Since then I have served
as District Administration person for the South, gathering the semi's
and officers lists for several years. Last year I took on the telephone
referral for the South. I earned a 2nd DTM in 1997 & have earned
12 CTM's," said Lee.
"Toastmasters is a big part
of my life. I am currently a member of 4 clubs: Aztec, where
I am serving a second term as president, Old Pueblo Orators (meets
2nd & 4th Monday), Tucson TV TM (meets alternate Sat and does
a live TV show), and Tucson Twosomes (meets monthly).
"I am honored to be awarded
this distinguished award, and join the company of its other winners.
Special thanks to Nancy Starr who donated the traveling plaque for
the next 20 recipients."

holds the traveling plaque with the help of Mary
Backus following its presentation to Lee Wagner,
DTM, with the assist of Mike DiCerbo, the
1997 recipient.
