The main room provided ample space for the main sessions.
The first summer
2000 TLI event started 217 new and veteran officers on their path to Distinguished
Club status! Mesa Community College provided an appropriate setting for
Toastmaster students to learn more about their club officer positions on
June 10th.
In addition
to learning the "nuts and bolts" for their office, students had the opportunity
to choose from several elective courses. Speech contest workshop and Judge’s
training were popular offerings, and officers could practice Team Building,
Going Beyond the Club, Leadership 2000, and more! A total of 32 classes
were presented by an experienced facilitator staff.
A highlight
of the opening session was the Petra-fied Production version of "Peanuts"
characters who formed a new Toastmaster club, and demonstrated the benefits
of officer training. Several clubs were recognized for achieving Distinguished
club status, and members sported ribbons declaring their success!
Past District Governor Mike DiCerbo, DTM, (above)
conducted a session for Club Presidents.
For those of
you who have been elected to a club officer position for the July 1 through
December 31 term, it is not too late to receive training! Additional TLI
sessions are scheduled for ASU on Saturday, July 8th, and a TLI-Lite session
will be held on Saturday, June 24th in Tucson. Pre-registration is recommended,
but walk-ins are accepted (space permitting).
