CHARACTERS
|
Chad was playing an elven character very similar to "the face" in
the 3rd edition. Jeff was playing an Irish dwarf. Gerard was
playing a preacher type of character that had a fetish with bugs
and kamakazi (you can check him out in the runners section of this
site). Kent played his newsmedia/decker character.

PLOT SYNOPSIS
|
The players will be approached by a Mr. Johnson who needs some
runners. The Johnson works for Wuxing Inc. and needs some information
from a top secret experiment, being run by the Shiawase Corporation.
Mr. Johnson was given no information about the experiment other then
it is biological in nature and it was called Khan IV. The PC's are
given the address of the building and are told to destroy any
information that they can not take with them. The experiment is
being run by a Dr. Martin Xing, assisted by Catherine Mayfield.
If the PC's try to find out information about the doctor they will find out
that he has been shipped up from Portland specifically for this
experiment. If the PC's try and find out information on Catherine
Mayfield, they will find out that she has just been hired by Shiawase
straight out of Seattles Magical Studies University.
If the PC's go to scope out the building they will see that it is
a tiny little building squished between two larger buildings. The
building is an old Fuchi electronics store, now called Bio-Tex. The
front door is a simple wooden door while the back door is solid steel
with a maglock. If the PC's try to go in the front the guards at the
front will make them through the Bio-Scanner corridor to see if the
PC is a threat. The back door also has laser trip beams just inside
the door. There are 4 guards if the PC's try to break in and get
caught.
Once inside, they notice the elevator with 2 other levels. The first
sub level is the main defense of the store, a combat decker, and
3 guards. The second sub level is the testing area. The PC's will
discover that the Dr. is experimenting on a young infant boy named
Ghangis. Apparently, the young boy has psycho-kenetic abilites that
the doctor was trying to learn the secrets of. But over the months,
working with this young boy, the doctor has become attached to the
young child, and wants what is best for him. Catherine, however, is
looking out for the project and is a cold ruthless person trying to
work her way up the ladder.
Catherine will not stop the PC's, but will wait for an opportune time
to attack the PC's and take Ghangis. Once the PC's leave the building,
an Ares CityMaster, owned by Knight Errant, drives up blocking their
escape, and a voice telling the PC's to give up. The doctor will try
to negotiate but will be shot by the mounted weapons. Then Ghangis
will use his abilities to utterly crush the Citymaster and its occupants.
Just before the doctor dies, he pleads with the players to take Ghangis
to his sister in Portland, where she will give him a normal life.
At some point towards Portland, Catherine will try to stop the PC's,
perhaps at some motel where she can call for back up. Make it
interesting but fair. After that, the rest is smooth sailing.

RUN RECAP
|
This run went really well, except for the fact that the PC's did
not find any information when they researched on the doctor or
Catherine Mayfield, that can be attributed to bad dice rolls.
Chad tried something that I did expect, he tried to snoop around
Bio-Tex in the matrix. Unfortunately, due to the very good security
system, and some good DM rolling, he never made it past the chinese
sage (in other terms, the front desk).
When the players tried to break in the back door, Gerard's character
tried his hand at B & E. He wasn't even able to take the case off
the maglock, let alone rewire it and open the door. That is when
his character, in frustration, started shooting the maglock. Just then
the reporter joined the group (Kent's character), catching the group
totally off guard as he started telling them to continue what they
were doing and pretend he was not even there.
That's when Jeff's character, the dwarf mercenary, made his own door
with some explosives (that answers the question, Will an explosion
set off a laser trip wire?). Needless to say, a fire fight insued
shortly after that. Then the guys split up, Chad took the first floor,
Gerard the first sub level, and Jeff the second sub level.
Well, Chad and Kent both jacked into the matrix and tried to grab
what information they could. Gerard, picked the bad floor, cause he
ran into the trouble, four security guards to be exact. After taking
his dose of kamakazi, he lunged into the guard room armed with his
sword. Kent and Chad had the pleasure of watching the fight on the
security cameras. After actually taking out all of the guards, Chad
and Kent watched Gerard's character start screaming "They're all
bugs!" and he preceeded to hack at the bodies.
Jeff managed to secure the second sub level as there was just two
scientists down there. A classic moment was when Chad and Kent went to
use the elevator to meet up with Jeff, as the doors opened, they saw
Gerard's character sitting there, dripping from head to toe in blood,
panting hard, sword and bible in hand. The rest of the adventure went
very well, except for the fact that the characters wanted to lie low
at Kent's characters apparment, so the dwarf decided to turn the
bathroom into his own surgury room, and Ghangis used Kent's furniture
as play toys.
