Chapter 1

"I GOT IT! We can go to the park, and I can kick your butt in basketball!" Zac yelled to his girlfriend Alyssa. It was a hot summer afternoon with nothing to do. Alyssa and Zac had been trying to figure out what to do right after they had a little Mortal Kombat battle on PlayStation about 30 minutes earlier.

"Psh! You can beat me at anything except for basketball, that's my game! Oh, and soccer!" Alyssa laughed to herself, thinking of yesterday's game of basketball when she kicked Zac's butt, 32-1 (if it wasn't for her fouling him, it would have been 32-0).

"Yesterday was..... I LET YOU WIN ALL THOSE TIMES! Now I am ready to show you my REAL game!"

"BRING IT ON!" Alyssa shouted, followed immediately by her jumping up from her spot in the Hanson's backyard, and running for the park, "FIRST ONE THERE GETS THE BALL!"

Zac immediately jumped up, and dashed after Alyssa.

"I TOLD you you can't beat me! Did you listen? NOOOO! HAHAHA, I'M THE BASKETBALL GODDESS!" Alyssa shouted in her victory of yet another win at basketball with Zac.

"Well.... I can beat you in Mortal Kombat any day!" Zac retorted.

"Ya know.... you're cute when you're mad," Alyssa said, after starting to feel bad that she'd gotten Zac mad.

"Thanks...." Zac replied sheepishly, looking down at the ground. 'Gosh, how does she do that? She always has this way to make me..... shy! I'm NOT shy, no, no, no,' Zac thought to himself. He looked up, and grabbed Alyssa's hand, pulling her towards a forest in the back of the park.

"Hey, where are we going?"

"Just wait, you'll see, but first," Zac stopped walking and faced Alyssa, "you have to SWEAR you will NEVER tell anyone about this spot no matter what!"

"Ok, I swear," Alyssa held out her hand, and Zac took it. They did their secret hand shake in which they did after every promise or swear they made, and continued walking towards the forest.

"Ohmigosh Zac!" Alyssa exclaimed very suprised, as she looked around at the beautiful scenery. Zac had taken her deep into the woods, farther then she even knew the woods extended, where there was a small opening surrounded by nothing but trees, trees, and more trees. In the middle of the opening ran a small creek, which had water as clear as crystal. Next to the creek sat an old, little, faded blue row boat that had 2 benches in it.

"This is my secret spot. I come here a lot to get away from things. Now it can be our secret spot!" Zac exclaimed excitedly, "Do you like it?"

"Yeah, it's sweet! I never in a million years would have thought this was back here!"

"Exactly why it's MY secret spot. I don't think anyone else knows about it-"

"I don't think so either. I don't think anyone goes further then the big oak tree since.... well, since the murder," Alyssa interrupted, remembering 2 years ago, when a bunch of teens from Tulsa got raped and murdered in the forest. The cops never did find the murderer.....

"Yeah... I found this place before... before then," Zac looked down. He still had trouble thinking about the murders because one of his really close friends, which he had known since birth, had gotten killed in all the murders.

"I'm sorry Zac! I shouldn't have brought that up, I'm really sorry!" Alyssa and Zac were now sitting down on the benches in the rowboat. Alyssa wrapped a caring arm around Zac's neck to comfort him.

"It's ok..." Zac smiled weakly while looking straight into Alyssa's beautiful brown eyes. He took note of the way her shoulder length, light brown hair had a tent of red in it, and how it blew in the wind. He loved the way Alyssa looked, she was astonishing, with her perfect girlie figure, that had curves in all the right places, her long legs, just, everything about her.

"Was this boat here when you found this place?" Alyssa questioned, interrupting Zac's thoughts.

"Huh?" Zac asked, breaking out of his trance, "Oh, um... no, I got it at a garage sale and brought it here."

"OoOoOh....." Alyssa faded off, looking up at the tops of the trees as they rustled around with the wind.
