As listed on the www.abc.com website:

The following are a list of frequently asked questions that you may have regarding the selection process:

  1. What are the guidelines for my videotape?
We will only accept VHS tapes, no exceptions. Videotapes must be THREE to FIVE minutes in length. Anything over FIVE minutes will not be considered. On the tape, tell us about yourself and why you feel you would be a good contestant on The Mole. Please write your name, age, e-mail address and all of your phone numbers on a label and permanently affix that label to your videotape. Your tape must be received in The Mole production office no later than April 14, 2001.

  2. How will I know if I have made it to the next round?
We will be calling all semi-finalists, so be sure to include all of your phone numbers on your application and on your videotape. Semi-Finalists will receive a Semi-Finalist package with forms to fill out and return. Semi-Finalists will be invited to the in-person interviews in Los Angeles from on or about April 29 through approximately May 5, 2001.

  3. How do I know if you received my application and tape?
Due to the high-volume of mail we are anticipating, we will not be able to answer any questions about the receipt of your application and tape.

  4. What type of contestant are you looking for?
All types of contestants. We are looking for those who are physically and mentally fit, who enjoy traveling and taking on new challenges, and who are eager to participate in games in a team-oriented atmosphere. All contestants must meet the eligibility guidelines and have the qualities specified in the Application section of this website.

  5. I can't afford to take almost 2 months off work. If I am chosen to be a contestant, will I be compensated for my time?
The winner will be awarded up to $1,000,000 US dollars (prize money increases as the group wins games), and the winner will be responsible for payment of all applicable taxes. The other thirteen contestants will receive free airfare and accommodations and will receive a small consolation prize.

  6. Do I need to be an amazing athlete to participate?
No, but you do need to be in good mental and physical health. You will also need to pass physical and mental exams (conducted by trained personnel chosen by The Mole Producers) in Los Angeles, CA, if chosen as a semi-finalist.

  7. Will I be able to contact my family while I am participating in The Mole?
During the six weeks the contestants are participating in The Mole, there will be minimal, supervised contact with the outside world, subject to Producer's discretion. Once a contestant is eliminated from competition, he or she will be allowed to contact home.

  8. Can I get my application videotape returned to me?
No, all videotapes will become the sole property of The Mole Producers once submitted, and will not be returned to you, whether or not you are selected as a contestant.

  9. Where is the show filmed?
The exact locations are top secret, just like the identity of The Mole. Be assured it involves travel, adventure, and excitement.

  10. If chosen, how long would my time commitment be?
If selected as a Contestant, you must be available for the taping of the show from on or about May 24, 2001 through approximately July 12, 2001. You must also be available to travel to Los Angeles, CA for five additional days in 2001.
