Could have been just any day of the year.
Could have been an ordinary day in Winter.
But not this day.
This day saw a brighter sun,
Drifting in and out of fluffy clouds of white,
And all shades of gray,
Just enough blue for the heavens to bear witness
To the darkness when the moon blocked the Earth's warmth
And allowed the light of one soul to outshine the day.
Butterflies gracing flowers too late in bloom,
The flames of fall crunching
Beneath the feet of a few close friends.
The early snow melting from the heat
Of two soulmates this lifetime finally brought together.
Vows exchanging again in a ceremony older than time
So immensely beautiful,
Even the sky shed tears
Making rainbow colors in the air,
Softly turning to tiny drops of ice.
Diamonds and gold in timeless circles,
Mere tokens of love unable to be measured,
Rebinding an eternal union.
The sun reappeared with the first kiss,
Quickly dropping into the waves,
As if in celebration.
An offering of stars fell from above them
Like so many fireworks,
Surrounding a full moon,
Breaking through the blanket of clouds.
An ageless memory,
A yearning dream,
And a glimpse of tomorrow all in one
It was our perfect day...
