Well, the FZR 600 had been sick for a while now, but Mark got her back together. OK, it may not look like it, but trust me, it's a long way from where she was before! What happened was, at one point in time the drive chain was too tight, and even though I loosened it, some damage had been done to the countershaft bearing. Now folks, this is a whopping $38 part; no big deal. Except for the minor inconvenience of having to drop the engine from the frame and taking it apart to the crank to get to it! For an amateur mechanic, heavy stuff.
So, along the way, the bike picked up an Ohlins type-3B shock, Russel SS brake lines, Vance & Hines racing engine covers, an FZR 400 swingarm (polished), brake stay arm & passenger peg brackets, 1mm oversize pistons (guess she's not really a 600 anymore), the cams have been degreed, the wheels are polished and the back end is slightly (higher-thank you, Ohlins!) Brake modifications include a Nissin Master Cylinder from a GSXR750 and R6 Calipers (see below), which necessitated going to later model front forks.
I'd just picked up a new pair of Teknic "Chicane" gloves...in black, of course, so they don't match my new bike (see below)!
