As for the 7 sacred runes: that's not such an easy one to answer. At least it will take more than one sentence. Most important is that these are not made up symbols. They are ancient and represent a vibration or truth which is universal. They may come to you in a vision, but I strongly urge you to verify that they are in fact druid rune symbols before incorporating them into your current set of runes.
To start with: this is what differentiates Druid Runes from Viking or Nordic Runes. As far as I know (which isn't too far) no other group uses this method. Now, it may be seen/heard/read somewhere in the future because I've published it in my web pages.
At this time I am still withholding the remaining seven rune symbols from publication because I am concerned about their being mis-used or abused. I do make a complete set of Runes for some people, but that is rare. My request in doing so is that you would always and only use them as Druid Runes. If you are unable or unwilling to make such a commitment, then I would make a set of 26. It is always best to follow your own heart and intuition, as I am sure you already know and do. I would truly honor whatever your decision is and support you as best I can in that decision.
There are other ways to obtain RUNES that are just as powerful. ... look to the Earth. As I was taught, all RUNES come to us as teachers and are best in their natural form. The one material I will never use is wood, as the RUNES are trees. Do not take the life of a tree to make a RUNE, please! As you walk through the woods, beach, city parks, *listen* to the Earth. I find I can pick up just about any stone and see RUNE symbols in them. These are the real RUNES. Certain stones (sandstone, etc.) do not hold up very well and will not last for years. I have my grandmother's natural RUNES which are now well over 200 years old and they look like they were just picked up yesterday.
If you want to do readings and scrying with the RUNES, then you would best work with a set made specifically for you. If you purchase a set of RUNES, there is an initiation you can do that will awaken them. I've done that for my sister and a few friends who already had RUNES and didn't need a new set. This initiation process takes 13 lunar months, initiating one rune in the new moon and one in the full moon. The "sacred seven" are initiated for the entire 13 lunar cycles. (this initiation is being added to the web very soon, so I won't write it all down here.)
If you want them made, I would need a lot of personal information about you, a strand of your hair and a drop of your blood. (a tiny drop on a piece of cotton or gauze ... just a pin prick). It takes one year and one day, from beginning to end for me to make them, and another one year and one day for you to *initiate* with them (you are the initiate ... not the RUNES). It would begin on an Equinox or a Solstice, depending on your birth date and other personal information. Most people are unwilling to go through this process, which I can understand. I am not willing to change it, it is how I was taught.
If you'd like help in identifying ways to select naturally occurring RUNES I would be happy to help. If you would like a set made it will cost about $250.00. I charge only what I have to spend on the materials and the cost of renting a kiln. The kiln is always the most expensive piece. If I can make two or three sets at the same time, the cost is distributed. I won't put the RUNES into the kiln with anything else, so I always have to pay full price for exclusive use. Everything is done in ceremony and with the utmost respect. It is a gift (except for covering my own personal expenses).
I currently have 2 requests pending for a set of Runes. The more I make at one time, the less it will cost. for a single set ... $250. When I make 3 or 4 (up to 13 sets at one time) then the cost may be as low as $150/set. I require a $100 deposit to cover the cost of the basic materials before I will start.
The set of runes will be enclosed in a leather pouch (not velvet) and it comes with a leather ground cloth. I generally use elk hide, because it is thicker and more durable. I keep the ground very simple, painting only the circles and a few symbols. Detailed instructions are included as to the ground cloth and RUNES.
Each set is different, because I concentrate on you ... making a very personal set. It takes me about four days to prepare one set of RUNES for the kiln.
Still interested ... show me the next page.
