1) during the Y.E.M jam, bright heat lightning was lighting up the sky.  The crowd would scream like animals at each hugh flash.  phish would respond on stage, taking the song higher and higher with each roar from the crowd.  Finally, the rain began and created mudslides down the grass hill/seats which everyone was sliding down.  Then, Phish began an acapella jam at the end of Y.E.M. which was an extra bonus.  And it was good...really good.

Well, I made a run from Deer Creek all the way to the Great Went. I went with a friend who I haven't seen since God knows when. When we made the plans I totally thought we would be chilin' out have'n a good time but she forgets to tell me that we are meeting her lame boyfriend and his buddies in Burgettstown, PA. Its all good, so I thought. We finally meet up with him and lack for a better word, he sucked! So I continued on, still driving with this girl but once the show came to start I would go off and do my own thing. I'll tell you what, being alone at some of the best shows I've ever seen makes it so much better. So what you want, go where you want, chill when you want! So I guess this story isn't about one show, but me realizing that phish shows aren't just made for a posse of your friends, their there to let you experience the best band in the world on whatever level you'd like!

The thing that sticks out most in my mind was the first phish show that I went to, was deer creek '99. It was actully at the campgrouds, I was frying nuts and for the first time I walked down the shakedown, and a guy was holding a 6 inch bud. I don't know if it was the lighting or the acid, but his face light up, and he looked and me, and then at the bud, then at me, and the at the bud, so on for a few seconds. AT that moment, I had found a whole new respect for the band and it's following. That moment was a point of change, and I will never forget it....

Can't Choose

See Above Question

I'm going to have to say it would be the fearsome foursome playing in my hometown(Albany) for three nights w/ a continuous Harpua story mixed in all three shows concluding on the third night(10/31). Album(s) of choice: Any album of: Zep or the Doors

31

Yes

Three different shows. 1st-- The Great Went: 20 min. before 1st set my cousin and I ate some boomers straight from Oregon, most crazy looking one's i've ever eaten. These were extremely intense and unfortunately, i was on my ass(literally)w/ my head between my knees for all of Makisupa and Harpua. When trey strummed that riff for chalkdust, i bounced to my feet and it seemed as though i was transformed to this lovely place that nothing or nobody could destroy. At one point my cousin and i caught each other starring at those sheets floating in the wind hanging from the sides of the stage, stared at each other(didn't say a word) smiled from ear to ear and just grooved to the music.
2nd--Walnut Creek(8/7/98), My cousin and i split one tab an hour before the show and 20 min later we were out of our heads. Entered the lawn way early and pretty much watched the whole venue fill up before our eyes.  10 min. before show time, terenchal downpour, called Water in the Sky as an opener and sure enough i was right(only time in 31 shows) Saw my first foam, relax,Col. Forbin>Mockingbird,in which Trey was talking about some fat kid that ate to much and caused an eclipse. At the moment he said that, the clouds(quite ironically) covered the (bright and full) moon for a few brief seconds.  And third but not least, after the first set (12/31/99) when they just finished After Midnight, the energy in the air was so intense as everyone was waiting in anticipation for what was to come, and oh what an experience it was.

sandstone 98'  It was my first show and I remember sitting next to my car. I pulled
out my guitar and started playing. I was playing blackbird by the beatles and two guys walked
up and asked if I would let them play with me.  One began to play bongos and the other also
played guitar.  We jammed for along time and afterwards smoked alittle and then walked into the
show and I experienced the most life changing show of my life. From then on I considered myself
a phish fan and have been traveling around going to all the shows I can.

Hmmm...that's a really good question. you know once i tried to think of the
perfect phish setlist but i was so overwhelmed by the number of AWESOME AWESOME songs that I
couldn't do it. but i think a show of TMWSIY (gamehendge) with a full narration would be
phantastic.

not enough!

Yes

my phavorite experience at a phish show was at the target center, 9-24-00. it was
during 'divided sky' when the band got more and more quiet and the crowd got louder. all the
sudden, glowsticks were launching themselves in and out of the audience wherever they pleased,
like a million rainbow fireflies. i think everyone had a feeling that was serene but intense
all at the same time. at that moment it hit me that i never knew i had such a capacity for
joy. what an amazing show.

MY FAVORITE EXPERIENCE AT A PHISH SHOW WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO BE MY FIRST SHOW. IT'S THE FIRST TIME THAT I DISCOVERED THAT MUSIC HAS THE ABILITY TO COMPLETELY TAKE YOU TO A DIFFERENT PLACE AND THAT IT CAN PROVIDE SUCH UNBRIDLED HAPPINESS AND JOY, AND I HAVEN'T BEEN THE SAME SINCE. THANK GOD

the rain at polaris in summer 99.  like the rain held off until the encore and then phish busts out with rocky top,  and the rain start coming down sideways.  and the whole lawn goes nuts,  then phish plays bouncin'.  and after the show the rain stops. absolutely the best fucking show.

Mike's Song

New Years 1997 MSG

A collage of classic musicians, ranging from Jimi hEndrix, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Police, Rolling Stones(of course), and a little Talking Heads tossed in there for old school! Location? either msg - va beach - chapel hill - or if there was a spot big enough these days maybe the university, but burlington!

My very first show I was overwhelemed with blissfulness, and amazement. i hadn't felt anything this powerful since the dead, and even still, it was DIFFERENT. there was an electrical charge in the air that made my body move without effort, my feet felt like they gliding and floating on air (or was it foam?) and my heart felt full of love. where had these four musicians been all my life? jerry was important to me, and taught me a lot, including the way he died, but there was something so amazing about these four boyz....AMAZING i tell you. and ever since then i can't help but follow them like a magnet to metal....:)

my last show before hiatus-riverbend in cinci (can't remember the date)  there was a freakin' awesome storm!!!it got so grey and there was so much anticipation-everyone knew it was going to start coming down and pummeling us.  and finally it did.  it was literally a terrential downpour and i was out on the lawn and the rain was rushing down from the sky and drenching me with cleanness and crazy energy.  and i was dancing my fucking ass off and they played while my guitar gently weeps and i felt like the rain was kissing me and cleansing me and giving me electrical energy (just for the record, i was completely sober-not even stoned i swear) and i remember during the wistling part of guyute i was so overwhelmed with pleasure from the rain and wind and music and the movement in my body, that there was no other way for me to express my joy as i danced except to jump straight up into the air on each beat.  it was so wonderful.  oh my god and i almost forgot they buste!

d out bffcfmars!!!!!!!!!!!!!     whew! sorry about the run-on, i was just swept up in the memory!   thanks boys, and thanyou all who were there to help make that experience!!

Not counting 2.28.03 Nassua, after not seeing Melt all summer in '97, my first show on fall '97 was Hampton.  They opened with emotional rescue, which i has no clue about at the time.  It felt like it was like 17 minutes long or something, but i was just squirming because I had no clue what this fucking song was.  It ended and bang! Split Open & Melt, which turned out to be my emotional rescue.
