Abuso Sonoro |
"herencia" |
Brazilian thrashers Abuso Sonoro are back with a new relase and this is totally intense. Musically it packs more of a punch than their previous releases with a lot more brutal style and solid song structure. The lyrics are as political as ever, and delivered with such conviction by both female and male vocalists. Abuso Sonoro is an amazing bands, not only because they play great music but also because they actual live the politics that they sing about in their songs. This is definately a band that deserves to be supported. |

Armistice/ Ciril |
split |
a great new offering from Armistice that takes their sound to a completely new level. It still has all the fast rage that it always has, but now it seems that there is more time put into writing the songs, with a bit more complicated structure and writing style and some really moving melodic breaks that make this release stand out from all their previous recordings. This also includes the song "words of war" which is one of my favorite Armistice songs ever and featres Patty doing the vocal work as well! Ciril is a crazy wierd band from Long Beach with wierd ass lyrics about domination rioting and other stuff like that. In a lot of ways they remind of early Bay Area stuff like the Blatz but in a lot of ways they don't...I don't know...crazy stuff. |

Dregs of Humanity/ Nihilist |
split |
Holy shit! I wasn't expecting this at all. Dregs of Humanity are a full onslaught of metal mastery complete with heavy double bass drumming, awesome guitar melody, and intense alternating vocalists. You can hear the punk sound in there still, with some Amebix and Dystopia styles leaking through, but mostly this is just intense stuff that anyone into death/black metal would love. Don't expect the usual rediculous lyrics that most black metal bands have though, Dregs of Humanity throw down some really good lyrics on subjects such as vegetarianism, marriage, computers and religion, the loss of nature and more. Nihilist play a more crusty style with some really heavy riffs. They actually remind a lot of Drop Dead and have both personal and political lyrics in their songs. They even throw down a Poison Idea cover too! |

"mental health" |
This LP is sheer brilliance! I can't even begin to describe their sound because it is truly uncomparable to anyone. what you get here is 14 tracks of amazing punk rock with alternating female vocals that cover a ton of political issues (hunting, systematic death, the manipulation of youth by those in positions of power, plus lots more!) in a very down to earth and real-life way. There is also a spoken word piece on here from Mark Bruback as well. The LP includes a large booklet with lyrics, song explinations, and artwork, as well as a big fold out poster with artwork by Dennis Dread. Simply amazing! |

the final offering by Swedish anarchopunks Operation. as before they keep the really cool melodic parts and the awesoem drumming styles and have now a bit more of a thrash sound than on the previous LP. the female/male vocals, as always, do a great job working together and add so much impact to the music. Parental Advisory/ Reltih |

Parental Advisory is an anarchist atheist band from Brazil that lets loose a full onslaught of crust/grind insanity on their side. Remains of the Day |
"an underlying frequency" |
This is a VERY impressive second release from this Portland based band. If you got their self released 7" a while back then you know how good this band is. Somehow, on this new release, they've gotten even better. The music is tight as can be and packs such an intensity that I can't even begin to describe it. They've also added a violin player as well which adds an amazingly erie element to the songs. I can see similarities to some bands such as Born Dead Icons and From Ashes Rise, but this still keeps its own style as well and delivers itself in such a moving way. |
$8 |
Resist and Exist |
"kwangju" |
the newest, most powerful release from Resist and Exist to date! After a small line up change they added a second guitarist and the music has become so much more intense. Still keeping in touch with their anarcho/peace punk roots but adding a much more full and driving sound now with the new line up that delivers a stronger sound with even more pointed and lengthy lyrics to back it up. As with previous releases, they continue to bring forth issues that hardly ever are discussed within the punk scene (identity hatred, korean struggles, the destructiveness of drugs in our communities, political prisoners, etc.). The record also includes a huge booklet containing lyrics, writings/essays, and artwork that just add to the overall amazingness of this record. |
$7 |
Riot/Clone |
"do you want fries with that?" |
The newest release by this long running anarcho-punk band from the U.K. that far surpasses all their other material to date. This LP pulls no punches, with every song pertaining to the animal liberation movement and the need for action instead of talk…it is sheer brilliance. Musically, if you're into bands like early Rudimentary Peni or the System, then you will definitely want to check Riot/Clone out. I think that this release goes well beyond being just good music though, having a very well thought out message backed by solid information and a sincerity that a lot of modern day release seem to lack. |
$7 |
Sea of Deprivation |
"catharsis in disharmony" |
the debut release from this Arizona 3 piece featuring members of Misanthropic. Lots of crossover in musical styles but this definitely leans towards the metal end of things, drawing influences from bands such as Carcass, ABC Diabolo, Assuck and Dystopia. Lyrics are both personal and political in a brutally honest way. This record never lets up for a second! |
$7 |
